Confusion and chaos.
Dooku revealed to be fully working with the Sith when Qui-Gon Jinn arrives at Geonosis. Anakin Skywalker is now fully on the side of the Jedi, having arrived at the conclusion he would be able to see Padme more, for memories of her first appearance before him, in the junk shop on Tatooine, make him the happiest he has ever felt in his life.
On Coruscant, the news of Geonosis, and the fact that Anakin and Padme were captured, brings discussion of the Grand Army of the Republic to the fore. The only eventual conclusion is to give an important vote which will change the course of the war.
Part 1 [7/5/12]
The sleek Naboo Starship flew into the atmosphere of Coruscant, flanked by sleek N-1 starfighters. The Starship was metallic silver. The N-1's yellow, looking like miniature versions of the craft they follow. The traffic of Coruscant was limited in the area the Starship landed, settling on a hovering pad. The N-1's set down as well, and Captain Typho wanders around checking that all was clear. The other pilot of the other N-1 walks to him with a blue and grey astromech droid in tow. The fog surrounds them.
"We made it," Typho announces looking happy as the ramp of the Starship lowers and the entourage walk down it. "I guess there was no need to worry at all."
Anakin Skywalker then walks to the other two. "There is always the need for precaution, Captain," he says. "Even if one doesn't like it."
"Well I think the plan worked well," the other pilot, still helmeted, says. The voice sounded female.
A slight whisper is all that warns them. Anakin turns to look at the ramp, and reaches out to something silver that had just entered. Pulling it out again, the thermal detonator explodes.
"Just like I said," the female pilot says. "Deception is a good thing."
She goes to pull her helmet off, but Anakin waves to stop. "There is someone dangerous around. I can feel it." He then looks up as the sound of a speeder pulls away.
"Now, let's get everyone gathered and get to the Senate Rotunda."
"Yes, let's," the female pilot agrees, pulling her helmet off and revealing herself as Senator Amidala.
Soon everyone was gathered into the waiting open-top transport, almost like a train with seats all facing forward and the sides curved, which then heads out of the fog and to the heart of the Republic's Senate district.
In the Chancellor's office, Palpatine sat behind his desk, back towards the full sized window that curves from one wall to the other side. Seated at the other side of the desk, were Jedi Masters Yoda, Mace Windu, Plo Koon, and Ki-Adi-Mundi. Yoda - short, green and shriveled with pointed ears on his head. Mace Windu - tall, dark skinned and serious looking. Plo Koon - a Kel Dorian male, wearing a breath mask and eye protection to survive outside his own world, with a fleshy head. Ki-Adi-Mundi - pink skin and a head shaped like a cone, with white hair.
"We had warned you, Chancellor," Mace Windu says.
"The more systems that secede from the Republic," Plo Koon adds, "the more this argument will drag out."
"I know," Palpatine says. "That is why I fear this vote. Do you really think this will turn into war, Master Yoda?"
"Hm," Yoda says. "Clouded, is our judgement, by the dark side of the Force. But forever more will this argument persist, and when it does reach breaking point-"
"I am sorry, but I will not let this Republic, that has stood for a thousand years, be split in two."
"But you must know, Chancellor," Windu says, "that if it does turn into a war, there aren't enough Jedi to protect the state."
A holoimage of a Rodian then erupts into life, speaking Huttese. The Chancellor replies, "Send them in." The holoimage fades. "Now then," the Chancellor says. "Excuse me. I must return to the grand adventure of politics."
The doors open and Senators Amidala, Organa and others, including the Naboo entourage and Jar Jar Binks walk in. Anakin follows behind, covering the door.
"Senator Amidala, so good to see you it is," Yoda greets.
"Thank you," Amidala says.
"And Anakin," Windu says. "Well done in protecting the Senator. Continue to do so at all costs."
"Do you have any idea who's behind the attack?" Amidala suddenly asks.
"Sources point to Spice Miners and the dispute on Naboo."
"I think Count Dooku is behind it."
"He is a political idealist," Ki-Adi-Mundi speaks up. "Not a murderer."
"Even so, it is vital that Anakin stays as protection," Windu says. "Meanwhile, other protection will be set up."
"Thank you, but I'm alright with just Master Skywalker," Amidala says.
"Even so. Another Jedi will be along as well."
Part 2 [11/5/12]
Qui-Gon Jinn, after having his leg severed, now had a mechanical leg attachment. At first, he had found it hard to move with it, but as time went on, he found it was better than his normal leg, even if it did give him a slight limp.
Now in a lift, heading to the top floor of the 500 Republica, he had his assignment. To act as protection for Senator Amidala. He remembered the last time he was asked to protect Amidala, which had turned into a fight and had lost him his Padawan. Obi-Wan Kenobi had been a good friend, and Qui-Gon felt that to let him pass out of his life, as all Jedi should, felt like abandoning him.
As the lift stops and the door slides open, the first person who greets him is Jar Jar Binks. The Gungan has a billed face and flapping long ears. He also has long legs.
"Quigon?" Jar Jar asks. "It is! It is!" The 'is' was stretched out a bit each time it was spoke. The Gungan had a goofy sounding voice. "The Senator will be so happy to be seein you." He then turns to the opening, sounding excitable. "M'lady! M'lady! Master Quigon here."
"Send him in," Amidala calls.
Qui-Gon walks into the main room. Anakin Skywalker is already waiting, as is Amidala's security chief Captain Typho. Amidala and her haidmaiden Dorme are sat down on the purlpe seating supplied in the room. After greeting each other, everyone sits down; Anakin stays standing.
"So you are the extra security?" Typho asks.
"The Jedi Council said that someone the Senator knew would be better," Qui-Gon replies.
"And as I told the Jedi Council," Amidala says, "I don't need more protection."
"Well I am here if you need me," Qui-Gon says.
"And I will always be watching out for trouble," Anakin points out.
"Well, if you'll excuse me, I will retire." Amidala then walks to her room.
"Well, I know I'm grateful that you are here," Captain Typho says. "Guards are on every floor and I'll be in the command center just downstairs."
Night. Amidala is sleeping, but Qui-Gon and Anakin prowl around, keeping watch. Qui-Gon disappears downstairs and Anakin is left with Jar Jar, who is sat down. Qui-Gon returns soon after.
"Everything is quiet up here," Anakin says. "Quiet as a tomb."
"Security is tight and the guards are on form downstairs," Qui-Gon reports. "Nothing will be getting through that way."
"So, we just sit tight and wait."
While the Jedi are chatting, R2-D2 is in standby mode in the Senator's room. He doesn't notice the hovering droid outside the window cut a circle in it. He doesn't notice the cylinder slide through and fall to the ground, or the deadly caterpillar-like creatures crawl out of it when it smashed on the floor.
Anakin, who's senses were very acute to the tiniest detail, did. He smashed through the door and called the creatures as they made their way up to the bed, then sliced them as they flew through the air. Noticing the hovering droid, he called it using the Force as well, and before it could retract its appendages, it was pulled through the window and into Anakin's grip. He then deactivated his lightsaber and attached it to his belt using the Force, and pulled the plug on the droid, which had been sending electrical shocks through his arm.
Qui-Gon then runs through the door, close followed by Typho and Dorme. Amidala is sat up, eyes wide in shock at the scene in front of her.
"Look after her," Qui-Gon says. "Anakin, come. We need to get this droid to the Jedi Archives for analysis."
Part 3 [15/5/12]
As soon as Anakin and Qui-Gon had reached the Temple, Mace Windu had walked out to meet them.
"So this is the probe sent to Amidala to kill her?" Mace asks.
"No," Anakin replies. "It had a vial of deadly creatures ready to kill her. It still has the recording functions in place so maybe we can see who used it."
Inside the Jedi Council Chamber, a hologram shows two bounty hunters. One in full armour and one female with coveralls and armour. The fully armoured one then ignites his jetpack and rockets away. The full council then watch part of the droids journey.
"Another attempt on Senator Amidala's life," Mace begins the discussion. "Somehow, we need to organise transport for Senator Amidala back to Naboo."
"I'll stay with her," Anakin says.
"And make sure to use unregistered transport. We don't want whoever it is trying to kill her to know she has left," Ki-Adi-Mundi says.
"Will do," Anakin says and leaves.
"And I'll track down these bounty hunters," Qui-Gon Jinn says.
"We've had no contact with the probe again," Zam Wesell wonders. "Maybe something has gone wrong."
"Well if all is going to plan," Jango says through the comlink, "then it won't matter."
A bleeping then starts up and Zam checks the speeders computer. "It appears we have something. It looks like the Jedi Council Chamber."
"Jedi!" Jango hisses.
"Yes. They seem to be passing the probe around; examining it."
Zam needs no second opinion on that. Climbing into her speeder, she zooms away. A Clawdite, Zam could hide her true appearance at will. For now, she settled with a human female form.
No sooner had she sped away than a blast rocked the speeder.
Turning, she could see a Delta Athersprite craft, green and triangular with a red astromech, following close behind. Pulling into the crowd of speeders, Zam hoped her assailant wouldn't follow. He didn't, but still managed to hit the speeder. Pulling down fast, letting the engine idle and shut down of all drives, the craft plummeted like a stone. her assailant fired, and the engines were fried. She could only steer.
Instead, she waited for a bit, until she could see what she would hit, Coruscant being all towers, skyscrapers and durasteel there was no real end in sight. She then popped the canopy and jumped. She glided. The lasers flashed past her. She then landed on her feet, but broke the bones in one of her legs.
The Athersprite landed next to her, and a bearded man with bark brown hair exited it. Standing next to her, he asks "Who is the other that hired you?"
"Why do you want to know?" Zam says in defiance.
"It needs to be found out. I need to find out. Senator Amidala is important to the Republic."
A flash of dull blue and grey is in her peripheral vision. On the roof of one building, Jango waits. She hesitates then figures she has nothing to lose. "A bounty hunter named-"
It was then that the dart hit her in the neck. Surprised, she cursed, but she was quickly dying.
Qui-Gon Jinn looks around and sees the other bounty hunter blast off with a jetpack. Even with the Athersprite, he'd never catch up. When he looked back at the bounty hunter he had caught, she had already resolved back into her Clawdite form.
Part 4 [19/5/12]
Qui-Gon pulls the dart out of the Clawdite's neck and examines it. The Archive's of the Jedi might be able to examine it, but he had no time to go back to the Temple. He knew how serious this would be.
Getting back in the Athersprite, Qui-Gon speeds into the skylanes and heads for a place he knew very well. Dexter Jettster was a reliable friend for information. Having a wide range of skills and experience, the Besalisk knew his way around anywhere. With four arms and a lot of fat, Dexter ran a diner in CoCo Town. Qui-Gon had been there before.
Landing the Athersprite near the place, Qui-Gon enters. He knew the greasy and dirt-smudged sign above the door read Dex's Diner, and knew the reputation of the place very well. A service droid with a female vocoder rolled up to him. "Qui-Gon! How ya doin', love?"
"I'm fine, thank you very much," Qui-Gon replies. "Is Dex around?
"Qui-Gon!" Dex says with as much enthusiasm as the droid, poking his head out of the kitchen. "Be right with ya."
The service droid shows him to a table, and Qui-Gon sits down. When Dex arrives, he gets up again and the two friends hug each other, then both sit down - Dex squeezing himself into the booth.
"Now. What can I go for ya?" Dex asks, all serious.
"I'm tracking down a bounty hunter who fired this dart into an associate he had hired," Qui-Gon says, pulling the dart from his pocket.
"Ah, I haven't seen one of these since I was prospecting back on Subterrel." Dex holds a hand out for the dart and examines it. Even with pudgy hands, his hold was delicate. "What you got here is a Kaminoan saberdart."
"And these are from?"
"Kamino, of course. They deal in clones, and some of the best ones I've seen too. The planet's about twelve par-secs south of the Rishi Maze."
"And these cloners nice?"
"Depends," is all Dex says.
"On what, my friend?"
"On how good your manners are. And how big your pocketbook is."
Qui-Gon is left thinking. He then thanks Dex for the company and the information and goes back to the Athersprite. Linking with the Jedi Council took no time at all. Mace Windu answered.
"I have found the location of a possible base for the armoured bounty hunter."
"What about the other one?"
"The armoured one killed her, which is how I came to find out about the base."
"Fine. Continue on with finding him. And I won't even bother asking why you are in CoCo Town." Mace Windu then cuts the link. Qui-Gon then lifts the ship and heads out for space.
Anakin sat in the transport thinking. The place still smelled of the cargo it had carried before it was converted to a passenger liner. Padme had instructed Jar Jar to lead the vote, appointing him representative of Naboo. Then she had gone about packing. Having received a direct order from the Chancellor, she could hardly refuse. They had then been taken to the port and boarded the passenger liner with R2-D2.
The passenger liner, which was traveling the Corellian Run hyperspace route, would have to pull out of hyperspace to traverse Denon before jumping back to hyperspace following the Hydian Way.
Anakin wasn't thinking about the route of travel though. He was thinking about his second home of Malastare, and how his mom was. Anakin had managed to get a message through to her at least every month, telling her how things were. The link to Malastare was now closed.
He could hardly remember her, as though the link had cut away his link to her. He would have to check when they got to Naboo, and so he timed the minutes until the passenger liner jumped out of hyperspace. The shudder of the ship announced the reversion to realspace, but then anouther shudder followed almost immediately.
"What's happening?" Padme asks.
Other passengers were asking the same question.
Part 5 [23/5/12]
Qui-Gon Jinn arrives at the planet of Kamino. The Delta-7 Athersprite heads down into the rain lashed atmosphere and lands on a flat surface, also rain lashed. He climbs out of the Athersprite and walks to the door made of glass, which slides open as he approaches.
A tall Kaminoan stands inside. It waves a graceful hand and says "Master Jedi. You are expected."
"I'm expected?" Qui-Gon Jinn says, surprised.
"Yes. After all these years, we thought you would never come. This way please."
Qui-Gon could only follow. He is lead to a small area where two seats drop down from the ceiling. Another Kaminoan waits.
"Master Jedi-" the first Kaminoan starts.
"Qui-Gon Jinn," Qui-Gon finishes.
"Ah, yes," the second Kaminoan says. "I am Lama Su and I am the Prime Minister of Kamino."
"It is a pleasure to meet you."
"You will be pleased to know that one point two million units are fully grown, with another two million well on the way."
Qui-Gon realises he knows little about this place, and the units caught him by surprise as well. "That is good news," he improvises.
"We thought you would be. Please tell Master Sifo Dyas that his order will be met on time."
"Sorry? Who" This as well had caught Qui-Gon by surprise.
"Master Sifo Dyas is still a leading member of the Jedi Council I presume."
"No, he died roughly ten years ago."
"I am... sorry to hear that. But this clone army will be the best."
"Clone army for who?"
"The Republic of course."
"And the doner for the clones?"
"A bounty hunter named Jango Fett."
"Can you arrange a meeting for me. I would like to see him."
"That can be arranged," the other Kaminoan says, and wonders off.
"I'm sure you would like to inspect the clones?" Lama Su poses.
"Yes," Qui-Gon Jinn says. "I would."
And so the tour began. Qui-Gon had a hunch that the bounty hunter might be the one he was looking for. And even if he wasn't, Qui-Gon had a few techniques for tracking people.
He would have to put them to the test when he met this bounty hunter. They always seem to keep in contact with each other.
In the Chancellor's office, a handful of people stood. Yoda, Mace Windu, Plo Koon, Bail Organa, Ask Aak, Jar Jar Binks and the Chancellor himself listened as R2-D2 reported. The protocol droid in the room translated.
"The ship came under attack. I powered down until I was sure I was safe. Then I was deactivated and the next thing I see, I am on a rocky desert place."
"We have tracked where you are," Mace Windu says. "What happened to the others?"
R2-D2 beeped and whistled. "They took control of the ship and flew it into hyperspace again. They then captured everyone. I remember a red and black tattooed face wearing a cloak prowling around. It was then that he captured Master Anakin and Mistress Padme, and considering how close I was to them, he must have decided I was with them and deactivated me."
"Stay where you are," Mace instructs the droid, considering what the droid had said and realising it wasn't a full answer to what he had asked. "We will consider what to do next."
"What planet are Anakin and Padme on then?" the Chancellor asks.
"Geonosis," Mace says with a grim expression.
Part 6 [27/5/12]
Taun We shows the way to Jango Fett's quarters. Waving her hand, locks undo.
The first person to come to the door was a clone who looked young. "Taun We," he greets.
"Boba," the softly spoken Kaminoan says. "Is your father home?"
"Yes. Come in." He then walks in and says "Dad! Taun We's here with a guest."
Jango turns around. With a lined gaunt face, Qui-Gon could tell he had been through a lot of action.
"Hello," Jango says with a gravely voice.
"You must be Jango Fett," Qui-Gon Jinn says. "I came here to inspect your clones. They are very impressive. You must be proud to be the donor."
"I'm just a simple man trying to make a living. If your interested however-"
"Ever reach as far as Coruscant?"
"Probably." Jango says just the one word with an expression blank.
"Then you must know Master Sifo-Dyas."
"Never heard of him. I was hired by a man called Tyrannus on one of the moons of Bogden."
Interesting. "Thank you for your time." Qui-Gon turns to leave but-
"The clones," Jango says with a smile. "They'll do their job well."
The Jedi and Taun We leaves. Boba, ever alert to his father's mood, asks "What is it, dad?"
"Pack your things," the great Jango Fett says. "We're leaving this water infestation. For good."
The consortium of the Chancellor's Office get another holomessage. This time from Qui-Gon Jinn.
"Masters. The man trying to kill Senator Amidala is Jango Fett, a bounty hunter. I tracked him to Kamino, which is in itself an interesting planet."
"Last thing first," Mace Windu says. "Why is Kamino such an interesting place?"
"They are cloners who are making an army for the Republic, under the orders of Master Sifo-Dyas. The army is impressive, coming from the donor Fett. But as I understand it, Sifo-Dyas was killed during a trip back-"
"Matter not, this," Yoda says. "What matters is that closest to Geonosis you are."
"Trouble has arisen on Geonosis involving Anakin Skywalker and Senator Amidala. Someone we think to be Darth Maul has taken them captive."
"I will head there." The link breaks.
"Arrangements must be made so we can use this clone army legitimately," Mas Amedda says.
"But who will propose such a thing?" Bail Organa asks.
"Me," Ask Aak announces.
"No one will listen to you. Or to me. It needs to be someone who has stood against the creation of a Grand Army of the Republic for a long time."
"If only..." Palpatine ventures, "Senator Amidala was here."
After a silence Jar Jar Binks pronounces "Me'sa do it."
Palpatine looks askance at him.
"He speaks for Amidala," Bail says. "What he says effectively comes from her."
"It is decided then," Mas Amedda announces.
Qui-Gon rushes down into the planet's atmosphere. Geonosis was a barren desert. Kamino was a barren ocean. The tracker he had placed on Jango's ship as it had left announced he was here also.
An arena comes into view, with four pillars stacked. A few beeps and whistles come through the speakers and his astromech translates.
"So they are down there," Qui-Gon says to himself. Then to the droid "Take control R4." He then pops the hatch of the Athersprite and jumps into the arena.
"So," a voice rings out. "Qui-Gon Jinn. Now what do you think you are doing here?"
Qui-Gon knew the voice before he turns around to see the red and black tattooed face standing on the balcony overlooking the arena floor. Jango Fett is with him. "I am here to rescue Anakin and Padme."
"That," a rich Serenno voice echoes through the arena, "would be absurd."
"Dooku," Qui-Gon Jinn says quietly.
His suspicions are confirmed when Count Dooku, former Jedi Master and former Count of Serenno, steps from the tunnel into the blazing sunlight.
Part 1 [16/4/12]
Mandalorians were common people in the Old Republic's rule, working for the Sith and frequently killing Jedi. The Sith turned on them, like they turned upon each other, and soon the Mandalorians and Sith were at war with each other. The Mandalorians had no country. No home. Their home was their heart, as they were a nomadic people. Warriors. The armour was a reflection of their saying 'It's what's underneath a Mandalorian's armour that makes him who he is. A warriors heart.' And it was true. The armour colours were also a reflection of each individuals' chosen life.
And soon the Mandalorians had taken refuge on the planet Mandalore, but while they made it home, it wasn't truly so. Other planets took heart from the Mandalorian way of life, planets like Concord Dawn, and some joined forces with them.
Soon however, war became less frequent, and so the Mandalorians, often traveling to help in a war that wasn't their cause, had nothing left to do. A splinter group called Death Watch formed, wanting to return the Mandalorians to their true fighting spirits, causing mayhem and destruction. The Jedi were called in, and the forces of Death Watch wiped out by Master Dooku.
All but one was killed however. Jango Fett, originally from Concord Dawn, survived and escaped custody, hunting the leader of Death Watch, Tor Vizsla, and killing him. The rest of Death Watch dispersed, Jango was free to roam the galaxy, taking back his armour and securing his heritage of Mandalorian.
In the same year of the Naboo crisis, the same year Sifo Dyas contacted a group of cloners to create an army, Jango Fett is still at large, and is tracking down a Dark Jedi causing trouble in the galaxy.
Jango Fett. Mandalorian. Wearing his blue and silver plated armour, and at the controls of his similarly coloured 'craft - Slave 1, the forth moon on Bodgen came into view as he blasted out of hyperspace.
The information found by Rozatta, a Toydarian bounty hunter, had led him here. The Bogden system. The forth moon held the Dark Jedi he was after, and he would soon kill her.
Landing on a rocky alcove, Jango exited the ship, a Firespray-class starship stolen from a base he had blew up with stated ship, and looked around the area. The Firespray was like a gun on a curved mount. The flat end housed the engines which rested on the ground. Sticking up and curving so it was parallel to the ground, a thin body section made up the rest of it.
Using his jetpack he wore, Jango flew further away from the ship looking for any points of interest. He landed to scout the area again. His face was covered by a helmet he wore, same colour as his armour, but his expression was indicated by the sigh he gave out.
Then something swung a punch at him. Jumping out of the way, Jango fired his pistol instinctively. A squeal sounded. Jango looked at what he had killed. It was humanoid, with a weird shaped head and two long ears. Grey skin.
Two more jumped from a small mountain near his location. Again Jango fires. Both pistols. Somehow the two creatures avoid the lasers and pursue their attack upon him.
Well this is interesting, Jango thinks.
Part 2 [19/4/12]
Jango uses his jetpack to rise above the ground. He then fires both pistols in a left-left-right manouevre and catches one of the things dead. The other jumps up and Jango, still in the air, moves swiftly left and fires one pistol into the head of his would-be assailant. It drops down dead and lands next to the other.
Landing, and keeping an eye on his surroundings, Jango walks on. On the horizon, what looks like a building or a tower can be seen. Jango quickly walks to it, but again is ambushed. But this time not by those creatures.
"Montross," Jango states, ducking and twirling away from a laser fired at him.
The two were rivals, with Montross having a grudge on Fett for being favoured by Jaster Mereel. With his brutal tactics and reckless acts, he left Mereel to die during an engagement on Korda 6, attempting to claim the title of Mand'alor - the sole ruler of Mandalore. Jango, having learned of this, took the true story of Mereel's death to the Mandalorians and claimed the title himself, much to the anger of Montross. After also receiving the summons to stop the Dark Jedi Komari Vosa, Montross did battle with Fett on both Coruscant and Malastare, tracking Fett to lead him to Vosa. After killing Rozatta, Montross then arrived on Kohlma, the forth moon of Bogden. Seeing Fett already on the ground and fighting, he had to greet him and put an end to his meddling.
A human male with white hair and brown eyes, Montross had a worn long face. With gold Mandalorian armour, with the plates cut off at the elbows he had a range of weapons at his disposal, just like Fett.
Weapons would do no good against the Mandalorian armour though.
"I will be the one to kill Vosa, Fett," Montross says, "because I hunt not for the money, but for the pleasure."
"And that's why I will take live captures," Fett retaliates. "I prefer the more challenging bounties."
"Hah. Just like old times, Fett! You and me, man to man, face to face. Only now we do this to the death! May the best man win." Montross' voice was steel.
"I am the best, always was."
"We'll see about that." Montross aims a precision shot at Fett between the armour plates. The joints were always the weakest points to aim at.
Jango dodges again and fires his own pistols, aiming for the bare skin. The lasers make contact, but only graze the skin. Montross then charges Jango, but a quick roll to the side and kick out knocks Montross to the floor. Montross fires again while getting up, but the laser just zangs off Jango's helmet. Jango then fires both pistols into Montross' arms again, this time hitting his gun arm.
"You might have wounded me, but I can still fight," Montross says, before picking up the gun with his left hand and firing.
The laser strikes Jango on a forearm plate, but it doesn't slow him down as he fires multiple bolts into Montross' ankles. Darkness is slowly descending, and Jango it seems has won the fight. For good measure, he shoots the gun from Montross' left hand and turns to leave.
"Aren't you going to kill me?" Montross asks. "This is a duel to the death!"
"I've already won," Jango says without turning. "And besides, why stop the locals from enjoying a meal?"
And with that, he walks away. The screams can still be heard echoing across the distance when Jango is halfway to the building that is the lair of Vosa.
Part 3 [22/4/12]
The building was indeed a tower. It looked more like a fortress. For a fortress though, the door had opened easily enough. Someone wanted to be found.
The place had an eery darkness about it, and Jango moved with slow care. Up some stairs he moves, but then is instantly bowled over. Jango tries to escape, twisting and writhing, but then someone removes his helmet and he is knocked out.
When he awoke again, Jango tries to move his arms only to find them strapped down. Then a whip lashes and strikes his face. He hardly even flinches.
Taking an interest in the room, he sees it only has one door. The room itself is curved, like a turret of a tower might be. The walls are a dark blue, and the room is as dark as the ones below it. The floor is tiled. Moving around are the creatures that Jango had encountered outside.
A punch then strikes Jango on the chin. Another lash of the whip hits his right cheek. He blinks.
"That's enough," a voice says, from the direction of the door. Jango snaps his head in that direction to see a red skinned human female. White hair and yellow eyes, wearing what looks like rags, she stands there, looking at him. The creatures back away.
"You must be Komari Vosa," Jango muses. Vosa moves forward, slowly.
"Well. A bounty hunter. Someday, I knew one would find me." Vosa moves closer. "Well," she slowly says. "Don't you want some fun?" She walks to the side of him and places one hand on his left cheek, slowly moving it across to his hair.
Jango turns away. "I don't want to know your idea of fun."
Vosa moves to his other side and puts a finger on his lips, her head close by his. "Well, you won't know until you find out." She then headbutts him, finger moved away from his lips when she did.
Jango stands his ground. "You're a piece of scum, and I'll do the galaxy a favour and remove you by force."
"Try, my dear," Vosa says, slowly moving her hand over his right cheek. "Try." That hand then draws back quickly and slaps him. She then pulls one leg over him and lies over him. "I'm very fun when you get to know me."
She starts to move closer to him.
Three blaster bolts sound in quick succession. Three of the creatures fall.
Vosa pushes herself off Jango using the Force, flipping over the dead and drawing her lightsabers into guard position.
Jango looks at the door again, to see a familiar face. Wearing grey-blue plates of armour and a face of olive green wrinkly skin with bulging white eyes, the bounty hunter takes a step forward and draws her pistols. This bounty hunter was a Clawdite, and another friend of Jango's.
Jango murmurs "Wesell," at the same time Vosa speaks up "So who do we have here?"
Part 4 [25/4/12]
"Zam Wesell, associate of Jango's," Wesell introduces. "And I suggest you get him out and leave him alone."
"Who's going to make me," Vosa says lightly.
"I am." However, Wesell's right hand starts to shake. She holsters the left pistol and steadies her right hand with her left.
"So you are going to try to shoot me?" Vosa deactivates her lightsabers and clips them to her belt. "Try it," she breathes.
Vosa waits. Jango waits. Still Wesell does nothing. "Pah," Vosa scoffs, and builds the Force around her then pushes outward, directed toward Wesell who is thrown backward into part of the wall.
Three bolts shave past Vosa but each misses. Vosa then jumps high using the Force to call one blade to her hand and activating it. As she reaches the highest point and starts falling, driving the blade forward, she stops dead and falls to the floor. The blade deactivates and the hilt rolls from her hand.
Jango stands over Vosa, pistol aimed at her. "Concede," he simply says.
Vosa rolls over, her face contorted with rage. "No!" she screams, and aims a misjudged Force Push at him, with simply twists him to the side. She jumps up and calls her lightsaber to her hand, escaping through the door.
As Jango grabs his jetpack that was left by the table he was chained to, he looks back at Wesell, now fainted, and considers the aim of the shots. The precision.
That is one to look out for, Jango thinks. He then heads out of the door with his jetpack securely in place.
Vosa had got a bit of a lead on him, but using his jets, he soon caught her up. The chase wound through corridors and other rooms until Vosa came to a halt inside one room and threw her lightsaber at him.
Jango, jets still active, leans back so his head isn't in the firing range. His momentum means he was able to kick the hilt higher in the air. Vosa calls it back to her hand, and Jango wonders why she doesn't run again. He then realised they were in a side tower, so it would have been pointless to go through the only remaining door.
"Nowhere left to go," Jango says. "Concede," he offers again.
"Never," Vosa scoffs. "The only one who leaves is the survivor."
"Fair enough. But prepare to lose."
"My men already caught you once. I'm sure I can kill you."
"They were large in numbers. You're just one person. And they also had the elements of surprise and power on their side."
"And I don't?"
"There's no element of surprise here, and what power you did have disappeared when came here."
Vosa, lost for words, then charges him. Jango activates his jets and flies left, then fires two bolts into her legs. They scrape her legs and powder the floor with small black holes. Jango fires two more, but Vosa dodges and catches them with one of her blades, deflecting the bolts back at Jango. The armour takes the bolts, but it doesn't penetrate the plates. There was a lot to be said for beskar'gam, in the Mandalorian tongue - the 'iron skin'. The armour was strong enough to resist all lasers, including the ionised blade of a lightsaber.
Vosa kept up the deflecting of any bolts Jango fired, until he charges her with his jets active. He also kept up a constant stream of lasers all fired at different directions to confuse the Dark Jedi. A few meters from her, and while she was deflecting the last of the lasers fired, Jango leans back on the jetpack and swings his legs forward. One catches her hand with the one lightsaber held in it. The other continues to catch her in the neck and her head snaps up.
Then pauses. Her whole body does.
She starts clutching at her neck and a faint gasping sounds. I didn't kick her that hard.
Vosa then opens her eyes, as though in shock and that someone had betrayed her. "He is here," she speaks.
Jango has no idea what she is on about, until he looks to the door and sees Count Dooku, hand held out, standing in the doorway.
Part 5 [29/4/12]
"What are you doing here?" Jango asks. "The contract you gave me, as I'm sure you gave Montross, was to find Vosa and kill her."
"Well, my old padawan went to the dark side. I knew I needed someone for the hunt, but at the opportune moment, a reason to turn it into a contest came up. So I contacted the best bounty hunters I could to find her. I followed her here using the Force to locate her an hid my Force powers from her."
"Well," Vosa speaks up. "You have me now."
Dooku checks himself, then looks past Jango at Vosa, still hanging from Dooku's Force grip.
"What is the prize for this contest?" Vosa asks, quietly as she loses air.
"I'm sorry, but I cannot tell you that. My second master knew about you too, and said that too much dark just starts war." Dooku then closes his hand into a fist, and Vosa hangs limp until he releases his grip on her. He then calls her lightsaber to his hand. Then he turns to Jango.
"So, Fett, will you accept this contract?"
"Not until I know more," Jango says.
"OK. Well, a generous contract, with more money than any bounty can give you. A planet called Kamino deals with clones. All you need to do, at first, is donate your genes to allow the Kaminoans to recreate those and start making the clones."
"And what exactly will these clones be used for?"
"I think it would be better if we moved this conversation elsewhere. Shall we walk?"
"My helmet was knocked off my head during the fighting. I'd like to recover it."
"We have time. Go ahead. Meet me by the entrance and then we can go."
Jango traces his steps to the room where he was held. Wesell is still there. Jango wonders whether to take her with him, but then Dooku would most likely ask questions. He then realises that he wouldn't be able to trace the direction as he remembered he was unconscious when he was brought here. Not something to tell Dooku.
Working his way back to the entrance was something of a challenge, but then he sees a shadow of his helmet. The helmet had rolled into one of the struts imbedded into the wall. Picking it up, Jango places it on his head, and again lives in a world of his HUD. Finding the entrance is relatively easy after that, and as promised, Dooku is waiting just outside, looking out at the sparse wasteland.
"Such a barren world to hide in," Dooku says to himself. He then turns to Jango. "Ah, good. Now then, I take it you have your own transport?"
The two then head to the rocky alcove in which the Firespray-class ship was, covering rocky surface after rocky surface. When they reach it, Jango using his jetpack and Dooku using the Force to cover the mountainous parts, Jango invites Dooku to the co-pilot seat, and fires Slave 1 up, closing the hatch shut.
As the ship blasts away from the barren moon, and into space, Dooku says just one thing. "The name is Tyrannus from now on. You will forget that you knew my real identity."
"Yes, Tyrannus," Jango replies, and the ship blasts off into hyperspace.
Part 6 [2/5/12]
Kamino. The worst planet to even stay. Unless your an aquatic species of course, but even they would have a rough time in the rough seas. And the storms, of course. However, a species did live there. The Kaminoans live in the stilt cities that they created when the world flooded. They then did what they did best and recreated their species, culling to make sure that superior genes enabled them to survive. The stilt cities were all white, except to a Kaminoans' ultraviolet sight capabilities. Their eyes were almond shaped, and they had long skinny grey necks. The rest of them was also tall and skinny and grey. The Kaminoans' abilities at cloning was unparallelled by any other company, not even Arkanian Microtechnologies. Their process was slow, but it produced the best results. This is why Jedi Master Sifo Dyas made a deal with the Kaminoans in the first place.
Slave 1 reverts back to realspace, the journey having lasted a long time. It blasts down into the atmosphere of the storm ridden planet of Kamino, seen as a dark blue from space. Tyrannus directs him to one of the stilt cities and Jango lands his ship on a flat surface that seemed designed for landing craft.
Jango and Tyrannus exit the ship and walk across the sidewalk. Jango notices that the roofs curve. Everything is curved. And there were so many windows. The clinical whiteness shows through the glass doors, which slide open when the two men are a meter from them.
Jango looks at Tyrannus, but he is dry. Probably a Force Shield, Jango thinks. His own armour could protect him against the rain.
A tall Kaminoan then approaches. "Ah, Master Tyrannus," it says is a soft voice, almost crystalline. "I suppose this is the gene donor you spoke of?"
"Yes. His abilities will make him perfect for creating the army that is planned," Tyrannus says.
"Army?" Jango speaks.
"An army for the Jedi," the Kaminoan says. "Allow me an introduction. I am Ko Sai. Chief Scientist for the creation of the Grand Army of the Republic."
"Army, huh," Jango poses. "And I suppose I get to train them as well, right?"
"You will get to choose the hired help. We need skilled warriors to train this army," Tyrannus says. "Anyone you want in particular can be called for by you. We need as many as you can get so even if you have to bribe them to come, make sure they do. One hundred will do."
"I can do that."
"Let me show you to where you will be staying," Ko Sai instructs.
"Wait. Wait," Jango interrupts. "What do I get for this."
"Considerable amount of credits, in cash if you want," Tyrannus says.
"I'll want something extra. If you're taking my genes and cloning me, I want clone for myself. No alterations or anything. Just a straight cloning."
"Of course," Ko Sai says. "That can be arranged."
The three then walk away, to Jango's new home for the entirety of the clone production.
And so the Grand Army of the Republic, and the Jedi, is born. Troops armour is designed based on the Mandalorian armour of Jango's, with three separate productions for three different sets of troops. The regular infantry with the more basic armour. The Commandos with the Katarn armour, manufactured by the Kaminoans. The Advanced Recon Commandos had a more lighter armour than the regular infantry, but was weaker than the Katarn armour. As such though, attachments could be added to it and extra pouches for grenade supplies. A kama and pauldron were also designed for this armour type.
And so, this army would soon be ready to meet a threat that only Sifo Dyas knew of.
Part 1 [24/3/12]
"Is he nearly complete?" Darth Sidious asks, from inside a secret bunker of The Works.
"The droid general named Grievous will soon be ready," Count Dooku says.
"Grievous?" Sidious scowls.
"Is there a more suitable name, my lord?"
"I suppose not, but I still don't see why we have to keep the general's original name."
"He will still have his own mind," Dooku warns. "Therefore, to name him anything different would be against his will."
"Who will train him?" Sidious asks.
"I will," a voice says from the door. Obscured by machinery, Anakin Skywalker's lean frame enters.
"I am sorry, young Skywalker," Sidious says. "You hardly have any training of the Jedi, even though Dooku here has been training you. It is therefore Dooku who will be the one to train him."
"Is there anything I can do?" Skywalker asks.
"Yes. Follow Darth Maul and what he is doing in relation to the Confederate movement. We need an appropriate time to talk to each other."
"Yes, my lord," Skywalker says, and leaves.
"Now then," Sidious says as Skywalker leaves. "Will Grievous be ready and operational soon?"
"I can guarantee it, my lord," Count Dooku says.
And the work continues on the cyborg.
Darth Maul's blade retracts from the body of a Republic soldier. He then spins around and blocks a laser aimed at him with the blade still active. That soldier falls, and Darth Maul rushes forward.
He was given command of the droids to help him with a capture a frigate with Republic personnel. This frigate was supposed to be hiding Jedi, who were supposed to be smuggled to a moon of Yavin.
So far, Maul hadn't encountered any, and so had ordered the droids on a shoot to kill mandate, and was following that mandate himself, hoping to draw the Jedi out into a confrontation.
The layout of the frigate was fairly standard, with white corridors as far as the eye could see in an ordered grid system. The bridge was at the front and the engine reactor rooms at the back. Along the port and starboard sides, gun emplacements were located.
Not that they had done the crew any good.
A comlink then beeps from Maul's waist. He picks it off his belt and activates it.
"Sir, there are no sign of the Jedi," the tinny voice of a Battle Droids sounds. "We are however near the reactor rooms, and are planning to blow them, with your permission."
Maul could sense something nearby, and hoping it was the Jedi, he replied in an obvious tone "Go ahead and blow the reactors. There is no point in trying to salvage a proper victory over this vessel."
"Yes sir." The comlink dies as two lightsabers start humming.
"Even if you do blow the reactor," a voice says, "you'll be stuck on this ship with us and will meet the same sticky end."
Part 2 [27/3/12]
"And so the Jedi finally reveal themselves," Darth Maul says. "Prepare to meet your end."
Maul then activates his dual blade and charges the two Jedi. Using spinning tactics to keep the Jedi on guard, Maul quickly finds a way to disable them, first by using the Force to keep at bay one Jedi and cutting off the others blade hand, then swinging his own blade around to the other Jedi's hand as well.
Calling both Jedi blades to him, Maul smiles. "Not that tough now, are you?"
"I can take you any time," one of the Jedi says, and pulls Maul's own blade from his hand using the Force.
As it hits the Jedi's palm, a blast from the floor erupts, sending everyone flying. Another blade activates and blue can be seen through the smoke.
When that smoke clears, both Jedi are lying in pieces on the floor, and Anakin Skywalker waits with both his own and Maul's blades held loosely at his sides.
That is one Force-user to watch, Maul admires. Not up to my standard, but still...
"Skywalker," Maul greets him.
"Lord Maul," Anakin greets in turn. "Lord Sidious wishes to talk with you, and has inquired me to stay with you for a while."
"Fine," Maul says. The first rumble sounds. "But first we need to find a way off this cruiser before it blows up."
"I have a shuttle parked not to far from here," Anakin alerts, and jumps down the hole he made in the floor. "Follow me."
Maul jumps down as well to find he is right next to an acceleration couch. "When you said not far, I didn't expect it to be right underneath us."
"Well, I am a pilot with the Force," Anakin says from the cockpit. He guides the shuttle down from the cruiser, making sure the upper hatch is closed. He then brings the shuttle to full thrust to get away from the cruiser as quick as possible. Only one other shuttle is in view.
The one with the droids on it. The droid shuttle, however, never accelerated quickly enough and was caught in the explosion from the cruiser.
"Well, at least we can talk to Lord Sidious still," Anakin says. "And it's not like Battle Droids are a rarity in the galaxy."
In the Trade Federation cruisers bridge, Anakin and Darth Maul stand by a hologram of Dooku and Darth Sidious. Standing behind the two in the hologram is a droid cyborg that looks like an Old Sith War Droid.
"So, what is thy bidding, my master?" Maul greets, bowing. Anakin does the same.
"Is everyone elsewhere but the bridge?" Sidious asks.
"Everyone else has been removed by force until ordered to return," Maul says.
"Good. Now, the next part of the grand plan should be a simple one. But we need to work together with this, and all should go according to plan."
Part 3 [30/3/12]
"Oh, and may I introduce General Grievous," Darth Sidious says, moving sideways so the cyborg commander was in view. "He will be training under Count Dooku until he is ready."
"I am ready now!" Grievous shrieks. The voice isn't tinny, instead imposing menace, and is strained.
"You will not be ready until you learn the ways of the Jedi combat. Only then will you be able to beat them," Count Dooku says.
"Pah," Grievous spits out.
"So what is this plan?" Anakin asks.
"Well, Dooku plays a big part in this," Sidious says. "Those that have seceded from the Republic and formed the Separatist Alliance will need to be accumulated into one army. And for that, a deal will need to be made. Maul," Sidious then adds, looking into the hologram at his apprentice, "will draw as many Jedi from the Temple as possible by creating local disruption at specific systems near the Outer Rim."
"You never mentioned me, Lord Sidious," Anakin reminds him.
"Ah yes, you will go to the first of the sites selected for a border dispute, and personally see to it that some Jedi find their way to you."
"-on Cyphar." The hologram flickered out and back again as Anakin finished this last sentence.
"And have you seen him since?" Mace Windu asks.
"No. He might be planning an ambush. It is quite dark around here, and a storm seems to be brewing near where I am. Even if he does try to escape-" The hologram flickered. "get far with this... orm."
"The connection is breaking up. We'll get a Jedi squad to assist you as soon as we can."
"...anks a.. t." The connection then breaks fully.
Mace Windu focuses upon the Chancellor. Palpatine looks weary from carrying the Republic's weight on his shoulders for so long.
"Are you really certain you want to be sending an entire Jedi team there?" Palpatine asks, a croak in his voice prominent.
"It is the only option we have," Windu says. "And that message was received as I traveled here. I merely replayed it for you."
"Yes. Yes," Palpatine dismisses.
"How goes the vote on the Military Creation Act?" Plo Koon asks.
"Senator Amidala is working tirelessly to vote against it, while others are in strong favour of it," Palpatine replies. "I see no reason for an army of the Republic. This is about politics and negotiation. Not who has the strongest force."
"I see," Mace Windu says. "If and when the vote does finally come up, you must realise there might not be enough Jedi to protect against such a threat if it comes to that."
"What do you mean, Master Jedi," Palpatine flusters. "I don't understand."
"A war, Chancellor. Two sides of a democracy inevitably creates war."
Part 4 [7/4/12]
The dark, tall alleys of the slum district of Cyphar blocked all light from entering the clearing. A bar of blue light, a meter in length, lights the clearing enough so that one lean form can be seen. Three more blue lights, five lights of varying green, and one yellow light, join the first with a vvzum sound as they activate to a meter in length. All the blades being activated echo in the shadowy darkness.
"Skywalker! Where are you?" a strong voice calls.
Crumbling rocks and bricks then start falling into the clearing. Clanking is faintly heard through the crumbling rocks.
"Skywalker!" the voice shouts again, which then starts echoing.
Other Jedi however, start positioning their blades into defensive positions, and creating a circle with their backs pointing inwards.
"Stop! Jedi!" a Battle Droid calls. Lasers are then fired by the Battle Droids, with harsh peeu sounds, which the Jedi then deflect with their blades.
More Battle Droids start filling into the space, meaning the Jedi have less room to manoeuver and start hitting each other with their blades. More Jedi start to fall dead, and the Battle Droids press forward. The zangs and snazzes of deflected lasers start to diminish as the last few Jedi fall.
The remaining Jedi, a lean human, battles furiously. A laser hits his hand and his lightsaber is flung from it.
"Skywalker!" he calls, as a laser hits him in the heart. The last part of the name fades before it is fully stated.
The Battle Droids then just stand around, looking in all directions. A figure then moves closer to the carnage.
"Part one of the battle is done," it says with darkness in its tone.
"I managed to escape, but I don't know what happened to the Jedi team that was sent," Anakin Skywalker reports to Mace Windu via hologram. Mace Windu is in the Chancellor's office, and Palpatine, as well as Plo Koon, listen in.
"Where are you now?" Windu asks.
"In transit to Zolan. I thought it better to report before I jumped to hyperspace."
"Good. And what of Maul?"
"He might be on Cyphar still. That could explain the missing Jedi squad. However, border disputes are starting up quicker than I care to count. Zolan is one of them. From what I've heard, Battle Droids are attacking the towns and cities there."
"Send through the locations where these border disputes are happening. Jedi teams will hopefully sort them out. We need to keep the peace, no matter what happens."
"OK." The hologram fades.
"Concentrate on the main disputes," Plo Koon says. "Those ones will rip this Republic apart if not settled soon."
Part 5 [10/4/12]
The rocky surface of Zolan met Anakin Skywalker as he landed near one of the cities. Lasers echo through the vast emptiness. Landing near to Skywalker's position is a Republic shuttle. Jedi already out on the surface greet him.
"Skywalker. We was instructed this was a main hotspot for action, and to group at once onto this location," the leader, Duclen Visian, states.
"Well, it's good to have company I suppose," Anakin says slowly.
The rest of the Jedi exit from the shuttle, and they all charge into the city. Lightsabers active, the Jedi spin and flip, attacking the Battle Droids full on. The native Zolanders attack the droids with laser pistols, but more often than not, they miss and hit their own.
Taking a pause from the fighting, Anakin jumps up onto the nearest buildings roof. Slicing some of that roof off, he then uses the Force to throw it at a large cluster of droids harrying some of the Jedi. All the droids are destroyed, but one Jedi gets hit in the process. Anakin didn't care, and had already moved back into the action.
In the forests of Velmor, a Jedi wondered. Walking around checking all the place had to offer.
A beeping sounded, harsh and loud. The Jedi looked all around, and finally up. But it was too late.
A bomb had been released and was dropping down quickly. The Jedi tore his gaze away from it and ran as fast as he could, dodging trees without really seeing them, fully in tune to the Force. He continued running at full speed and soon broke out of the forest when a huge explosion rocked him to the ground.
Face forward he fell, flat against the ground as rubble and foliage covered him. A rough grip then dragged him up, and a voice that was strained, harsh and imposing menace spoke, "So you thought you would outrun by little surprise, did you? Hah. You will be the first Jedi I will have killed. But not the last."
"You are a monstrosity and should be brought down," the Jedi spat.
"Yes. But not by you." The Jedi opens his eyes to see a cyborg with the styling of an old Krath Sith droid flip a gun from a hidden holster in its hip. Using the Force, the Jedi kicks the gun out of the cyborgs hand. But then a blade activates.
The Jedi reaches for his own blade, but realises it has disappeared. Too late he realises that the cyborg has it, and is killed with his own blade.
Anakin thrusts his blade into a Battle Droid's back and deactivates the blade to swing the other blade into its comrade, twirling around the droid he just destroyed. Sighting upon a group of Battle Droids, he jumps down in front of them. They instantly open fire, and Anakin swiftly enters defensive mode. Blocking laser upon laser, he deflects the bolts not at those attacking him, but on others around him.
Slowly he starts to move backward. The droids follow. The pursuers are lead to the two ships the Jedi and Anakin arrived in. Using the Force, Anakin picks up the shuttle. Duclen Visian then jumps over the Battle Droids, twisting madly with his blade held to destroy the most droids. As Visian almost hits the ground, Anakin pushes him into the remaining droids instead. Anakin then guides the shuttle to the main of the action and blows the engines.
What is left is nothing but a crater where the city should have been. Nothing moves.
Satisfied that the job was done, Anakin enters his own ship and activates the system. A message instantly activates.
A hologram flickers into existence of Mace Windu, who says "Anakin. Return immediately to Coruscant. Senator Amidala needs the best protection she can."
Part 6 [13/4/12]
Anakin had forgotten her since being left alone on Tatooine. The simple mention of her name brought back memories. The beauty. The lovely smell. The silken hair.
Anakin just sat in the pilot's chair of his ship, thinking about what he had done over the last few days, and about Amidala's state of non-violence resolutions. To be with her again would be a pleasure, as he remembered that promise he had made, way back on Tatooine when he was just a small boy.
But he would have to forget all about the conspiracy of the Sith lords. But Sidious would need to be told.
"Impressive," Dooku says to General Grievous, standing behind the General a fair few paces back after his first kill in the plains of Velmor. "Most impressive."
"I promised that I would be a good warrior, and kill all Jedi," Grievous growled. "Get as many Jedi as you can in one place, and I will strike them down."
A beeping then indicated a message coming through on Dooku's comlink. Activating it, Anakin then spoke. "I am returning to the Jedi Temple on Coruscant. Mace Windu wants me to protect Senator Amidala, but as of yet I have no idea where she is. When I get the information, I suggest we use it to lead the Jedi to Kamino."
"Very good," Dooku replies. "But why tell me? Why not Sidious?"
"Lord Sidious seems occupied at the minute. I'm still awaiting a link to him-"
"Report," Sidious' voice emitted faintly through Dooku's link.
"We need a meeting," Anakin says to Sidious. "All of us. I am required to protect Senator Amidala, but have no other information. I think we could bring it into our plan."
"Get your mission, Skywalker. And then we shall see what needs to be done. I will contact everyone else."
Sidious' link then closes.
"I'll leave you then, Dooku. Until we meet again." Anakin then leaves the link.
Sidious' voice then sounds through the comlink. "Dooku. I understand you are training General Grievous?"
"Yes my lord."
"Some trouble has arisen and we need a full group meeting. Meet at Ojom in space. I will have a battleship waiting there. Get there as soon as you can."
"I will, my lord. And General Grievous will be there with me."
"Skywalker. Thank you for your time," Mace Windu says, meeting Anakin in the Jedi Temple hangar bay. "Time is of the essence and I need to deliver your instructions quick. The Chancellor has received word of disruption at Naboo, and as Amidala is Senator for Naboo, he fears that she will be targeted. You will need to arrive there as soon as possible. She is soon to give her vote for the Military Creation Act."
"Yes, sir," Anakin says. "And when I do meet her?"
"Just act as bodyguard until she gets here, right up to the point where she is at the Senate building."
"I will do as you say."
Anakin then walks to the ship again, and takes off quickly. A beep then indicates a message coming through.
"Meet at Ojom in space. I will have a battleship waiting there. Get there as soon as you can."
Another five years have past since Anakin Skywalker was claimed by the Jedi and put to work against the Sith. Since then, he has hardly been seen in the Jedi Temple, but neither has he been active in helping the Sith either.
During the five years, more sectors in the Galactic Senate have pulled away, and in a daring move, reformed into a new Galactic Congress. The Confederacy of Independant Systems.
More Jedi are pulled away from the Temple as the threats rise and trouble stirs. Rumours are then spread that Darth Maul himself is fronting the CIS, and has massive commands of droids at his disposal. The rumours get worse, however, as a cyborg hunter is supposedly on the loose.
Part 1 [25/2/12]
Five years after Sifo-Dyas was killed by one of his own, the production of his project is halfway finished. The Sith had taken control of it, with Dooku hiring the man to be the DNA donor. He now works under the alias of Tyrannus when doing work for the Sith. No Jedi gives him a second look as to where he goes, only that if they need him he returns immediately. Both Maul and Dooku are partners, each doing business for the Sith, which is risky for Dooku as his missions almost always involve Maul being hunted or fought.
On Tatooine, that small boy Qui-Gon once saw potential in has become famous. He is no longer a slave. He managed to free himself and his mother. With his skills, he indeed did build a spacecraft. The three members of his family all blast off the planet and move home. Secretly though, he has built the thing he wants most of all. He just needs the final part.
“Something in the Force is getting darker,” Mace Windu says to Yoda.
Both walk the Jedi Temple corridors. Night has fallen and all is dark. The blue carpet looks black, like a void. No sound can be heard except the slight footsteps of the two Masters.
“Sense this, I can,” Yoda comments. “Know what to do about it though, I do not.”
“Maybe all we should do is wait,” Mace Windu says.
“Meditate on this, I will.”
The Works is in total darkness. Only the glow of two blades lights the way.
“I sense something troubling, Lord Maul. It gives off a powerful aura,” Darth Sidious says.
“I will do what I can to uncover the mystery,” Darth Maul replies. “Could the Jedi be behind it?”
“Not even they could be able to produce this. It is the work of a new threat.”
“So what can we do?”
“Nothing yet. The Jedi will surely be able to sense this too. They will be as confused about this as we are. The next time Dooku is here, tell him we need to know if the Jedi plan to do anything about this.”
“Yes, my master.”
“Now onto other events, I have a new mission for you.”
The darkness is eventually replaced by the light. Both Windu and Yoda, however, make no indication that they see this. Both continue meditating, eyes closed. Yoda’s eyes then open.
“This is something of a mystery, I sense,” Yoda speaks.
Mace Windu opens his eyes as well and adds, “I could not see much either, other than the fact that he left Tatooine.”
“That place. Hold significance, does it?”
“It is where Qui-Gon Jinn first encountered Maul. The place they had to make an emergency landing while escorting the queen on Naboo here.”
“Contact him to find out more, we need to.”
Part 2 [27/2/12]
“Yes. The boy was strong with the Force. I could see that in him,” Qui-Gon Jinn says.
Qui-Gon stands in the Jedi High Council Chamber, but only Yoda and Mace Windu are present.
“And what did you do?” Windu asks calmly.
“We became friends. I told him the reason he could race in the podraces. Not that I gave too much away; he probably guessed it anyway. But in the next podrace, I told him to focus his energies. I had bet on him to win the race. Part of that was to get the parts we needed from his master. The other part was to free him.”
“So what happened after the race? I presume he won?”
“Yes. He did. I then took the parts back to the ship, and as I was heading back Maul attacked.”
“So you never got a chance to get the boy?”
“And when you escaped?”
“I was too preoccupied over Obi-Wan’s death. I forgot about the boy.”
“So this could be him? The disturbance?”
“Yes. But I- I’ve just remembered something. When I tested the boy, I asked Obi-Wan to get a midi-chlorian count. It was over 20,000.”
“Are you suggesting this boy is of the prophecy? The one to bring balance to the Force?”
“I can only presume so.”
“Get onto this, we must,” Yoda speaks for the first time. “Send a Jedi squad to hunt him down. Follow his trail.”
“I’d like to join them,” Qui-Gon Jinn implores.
“No! Join them, you will not. Once the boy has been found, allow you to go we will.”
“That is true,” Windu says. “For all we know, the Sith could be following this exact lead. They might even know more than us.”
The door to the council opens then, and Colan Zerr walks in. He looks around, and spots the emptiness of the place, seeing only three people in the room.
Zerr is around his mid-thirties in age. He has brown hair that is long, almost as long as Qui-Gon Jinn’s. His blue eyes seem to sparkle in the light. Fairly tall, he wears the standard dress of the Jedi.
“Sorry,” he says. “But there is something not right. Something in the Jedi Temple.”
“It is not something in the Jedi Temple,” Mace Windu implies. “It is all around. It is a Force centred gravity located around a boy.” He turns to Qui-Gon. “Fifteen now, would you say?” When Qui-Gon confirms this, Windu turns back to Zerr. “We need you to front a group to uncover him. Report back when you have found him.”
“What is it then? A kill? Or a capture?”
“Neither. We need him on our side. We need sweet talk. He must be distraught to know his dreams were so close to coming true. He might hate the Jedi because of Maul’s interception. If that is the case, the Sith might have the advantage.”
“So gather a team together, hunt him down, and report back for more instructions?” Zerr inquires.
“Yes. Use the Force. It will guide you to him.”
Zerr then walks out again. Windu watches him.
“Do you think it wise?” Qui-Gon asks.
“There is no other way,” Mace Windu says. “We need you on a planet close to Tatooine to stop a Trade Federation presence. Shimia is depending on you. And Dooku will be with you.”
“I understand. That way we will be quick to reply when needed?”
“I’ll inform Dooku of the latest mission and get underway then.”
When Qui-Gon has left, Yoda turns to Windu.
“Only Dooku, Qui-Gon can control. Sense something between the two, I do.”
“Do you think the big push between the two will come?” Windu asks.
“Of this, the boy is a part of. Fracture the friendship it will, of two great warriors.”
“Are you certain of this?”
“Nothing is certain. The dark curtain surrounds us. The dark side, growing stronger, it is.”
Part 3 [29/2/12]
"Well here it is," Colan Zerr states. "Mon Gazza. Mining world and podracing central."
"And are you sure this boy is here?" another Jedi asks. "We don't won't to come back with the wrong boy."
"The sense I get is that the boy is here."
The shuttle the Jedi are using then pulls toward the planet and races down into its atmosphere. Once near the surface it pulls up. Instantly it rises again, as a podracer almost rams into it.
"That was close," Zerr says.
The Jedi then watch the podrace while slowly accelerating the shuttle.
A pod speeds past. Then a whole pack arrive. The one at the back of the pack manages to get through some tight gaps on its way to first position. Colan Zerr focuses on the driver through the Force, but almost immediately is blocked out.
"Contact Windu," Zerr commands. "Tell him we have found the boy."
In a comlink transmission, there are two voice that can be heard. Two others listen in. One is locked away in a private room on Coruscant. The other listens via holo transmission.
"He is here on Mon Gazzo," a voice says. "We think he might be doing the podraces here for a living. I tried reaching out to him through the Force, but he rejected my thoughts."
"Interesting," the voice of Mace Windu says. "Wait by the starting grid of the circuit and congratulate him on his success. He must not know you are Jedi. Keep your lightsabers on you. Like I said, the Sith might be hunting him down too. But don't reveal them unless you have to. Convince him you can give him more... excitement."
The link then went dead.
"Go to Mon Gazza, Lord Maul, and disrupt them," Darth Sidious purrs.
"Yes, my master," Darth Maul replies.
"Where are you at the moment?"
"I'm at Druckenwell. I can get to Mon Gazza quickly."
"Good. Now report back once you have the boy."
The podrace had finished and all the racers in the hangar. Colan Zerr walks up to a gangly boy of roughly fifteen, with brown hair and eyes. He then shouts "Hey! Great race!"
The boy then walks towards him. "Who are you?" he asks. His voice giving a dark intone.
"I can offer you great advice and a better career in podracing," Zerr says.
"Well I don't want to accept."
"At least tell me your name."
"Anakin Skywalker. I race the pods like no-one ever has."
"I know. Can't we talk about this, at least? Let us walk outside."
"Fine. But I seriously doubt you can do better than me in a race," Anakin says with a scornful voice.
The two walk outside onto the dusty red plains, past a group of humans talking about the race and to a small building. It is then that Anakin finally turns to face Zerr and looks him directly in the eye.
"What are all these others doing here?" Anakin asks.
"Well..." Zerr starts.
"Wait... Brown robes... And I can sense-"
The Jedi start backing off, reaching inside their cloaks.
"You're Jedi. All Jedi."
And with that, before even one hilt could be pulled out, a massive will of the Force from Anakin Skywalker blows the whole building apart and sends the Jedi flying in the splinters from the wood.
Part 4 [2/3/12]
Colan Zerr is the first to get up, having been prepared for the explosion. A Force Shield of his own deflected most of the outward energy from Anakin Skywalker.
"Why?" Zerr asks. "Why defy the Jedi?"
"One Jedi left me after building my hopes of freedom. Five years I waited for that Jedi to return. I then made myself famous and freed myself, saying that when I had become famous enough, and learnt enough about this power I possess, I would start my own order of Force users."
"Yes, but we have come no-"
"It's too late. I have built myself the ultimate lightsaber, and all I need are the crystals from these Jedi sabers here."
"You won't touch them," Zerr demands.
"Yes. He will," another voice rises up.
Colan Zerr whips around to see a red and black faced man with cranial horns standing to one side. He holds both hands out, and calls two of the lightsabers to him. Then he throws them to Anakin Skywalker.
"Let me see you fight," is all he says.
"Yo-" Anakin starts, but he can say no more.
Zerr runs up to him and attacks with a downstroke. Anakin activates both blades, and defends with one of them while the other swings around for an attack of its own. The two fighters then become a blue aura sphere, as close quarters combat reaches its peak.
Anakin then surprises both Maul and Zerr by using one of the blades dug into the ground while the other block an attack from Zerr. Anakin then uses that blade to swing around and kicks Zerr in the head.
With the Jedi knocked back, Anakin then deactives the blade dug in the ground and downstrokes upon Zerr with the one still active, achieving height from the previous swing.
The blade then strikes Zerr in the head, is pulled back toward Anakin, and cuts Zerr in half.
Other Jedi then start stirring, lifting hands to heads or just sitting up.
The rest are dealt with in less than ten seconds.
"That was very good, young Skywalker. I am Darth Maul," Maul says. "Surely you must have heard of the Sith?"
"I have no quarrel with the Sith. It is the Jedi I hate, for leaving me standed when freedom seemed so close."
"Join the legion of the Sith and exact your revenge then."
"I don't want to be known as a bad person!" Anakin shouts.
"And you won't," a voice says from behind Anakin. "Dear, dear. Maul. Why is that when we have a mission to do you always know where we are and get there before us."
Part 5 [4/3/12]
"Jinn!" Maul exclaims.
"Qui-Gon," Anakin slowly says, and turns around.
Standing a few feet from Anakin is Qui-Gon Jinn. Behind him is Count Dooku.
Maul freezes. Anakin however, activates the two blades he holds and holds them in defencive positions.
"Anakin. You must see sense. I was on my way to you five years ago when Maul here intercepted me."
"Is this true?" Anakin asks Maul.
"Use your feelings," Jinn says, while Maul comments "How should I know."
Anakin looks down and closes his eyes.
Maul and Jinn wait.
The time goes on.
Anakin opens his eyes, deactivates the two lightsabers. He then uses the Force to call his own blade to him. Using the Force, he then opens the other two blades and calls the crystals to his own blade, which enter each side. He then discards the two other blades, and activates his own.
The blade he now uses activates at both ends. The hilt has Tatooine tribal markings carved on it. It is also a more sandy gold than the usual silver.
Anakin then faces Maul. Quick as a flash he spins around and Force Pushes Jinn and Dooku, then blasts Maul aside and runs.
Maul recovers quicker and runs after Anakin.
Jinn and Dooku quickly give chase.
The chase continues for ages, over podracing tracks, rooftops, and plains, until a spaceport comes into view. Each takes a different path to reach it. The end result is Anakin is stuck in the middle of Maul and Jinn.
"If I have to fight both of you, so be it," Anakin says, and his blades activate with a twist of his wrist.
Maul, however, leaps straight over Anakin and attacks Jinn.
Jinn defends by jumping out of the way. Maul is prepared for this however, and hits Jinn on the right leg with his blade. The lower section of Jinn's right leg is severed from the body. Jinn falls, a crumpled heap on the floor.
"Finally. Five years late. The thing I wasn't supposed to to," Maul murmers.
Then Dooku speaks. "Control yourself Maul. The fight is conceded. Leave, or I will be forced to attack you."
"Fine. But be warned, if I ever catch you again..." Maul then flees the scene.
"What was that about?" Jinn asks.
"Something I should have told you long ago," Dooku says. "But now is not the time."
"What about me?" Anakin asks. "I still don't trust you though."
"Maul has just revealed his intentions," Jinn says. "He wants to kill me, something he has wanted to do for five years now. Something has been holding him back."
A transport comes along, with the driver saying to them he will take them back to their craft.
Part 6 [6/3/12]
Back on Coruscant, in twilight, the Jedi Council is in session. Among them is Anakin Skywalker, Qui-Gon Jinn in a hoverchair, and Count Dooku.
"And so you posess extraordinary talent," Mace Windu says. "However, you cannot become a Jedi."
"Why not?" Anakin fires up."
"Too much anger, do you posess. Dangerous this is," Yoda slowly says.
"What if my anger is my strength?"
"Anger. Fear. Hatred. A Jedi knows not these things. Attachment is forbidden. Compassionate Jedi are."
"The Sith have said they allow me to join them."
"To join the Sith is no path at all," Plo Koon says. "And even if you did join, you wouldn't be of much use to them anyway. I say we take this one in our hold. He knows of both Jedi and Sith. He can play a role no-one else can."
Count Dooku coughs. "With all due respect Masters, that is not entirely true."
"Know the Sith you do?" Yoda asks.
"They do not reveal all of their secrets to me. I do not know who is master and apprentice."
"All the more reason for someone else to be with them, reporting on them and where they are," Mace says. "Make friends with the Sith Anakin. Report on what you find."
"I still don't like this, but I will do your bidding," Anakin says.
"Now then, Dooku. How long have you been in league with the Sith?"
"For quite a while," Dooku says. "Sidious found me first. He introduced me to Maul."
"And why didn't you say anything before?"
"It didn't seem prudent. The Jedi would have found out about it anyway."
"Fine. Take Anakin with you to where the Sith most likely are. Meanwhile, we will sit tight and deal with more Trade Federation attacks. And also get Qui-Gon Jinn fixed up."
"That is very good," Jinn says.
"We shall leave at once, masters," Dooku says.
Anakin makes best friends with Sidious and Maul, but with Dooku spending less time at the Sith house then Anakin, he is unaware of the dark tides which turn.
PART 1 [6/2/12]
A lone figure waits. Behind him is the remains of a water filtration plant that had earlier been fully functioning.
Before he had it destroyed.
Also littered around are bodies and debris that used to be police vehicles.
The figure waits in meditation, focused upon one vehicle that flies ever closer. A vehicle holding a secure method of tracking the Jedi.
A red open-topped vehicle flies around a building and the figures head tracks it. Tracks it right to the point where it waits directly above him. Then two humans jump out from it, cloaks flapping and blades already active. They land behind the figure with barely a thump sounding from beneath their feet.
Then the chestnut bearded man speaks. "Maul. We should have known it was you."
"Then why didn't you bring reinforcements? Surely your track record against me so far proves that you are incapable of beating me," the figure replies. And then it turns. From beneath the hood a red and black patterned face shows. A long hilt is produced from a belt, and a red blade activates from each side. "Don't expect to win against me this time either."
"Our luck can change with time," the white bearded man, Count Dooku, replies.
"Surely not," Maul spits, and then launches straight into an attack.
First the inside blade connects with that of Jinn's green one, and then Maul flips over it. Dooku attacks next, but the blade is sent aside by a quick parry off Maul. Maul's blade follows through and hits Dooku on the left shoulder.
"That should have decapitated you," Maul snipes. "Split your head from your body. But no. Jedi have an extraordinary way of dodging what should strike them down."
Jinn quickly strikes from behind Maul with a downstroke. But with a quick flip of his blade, Maul stops it and rolls away to the left. Three more attacks from Dooku, all vicious strikes, are blocked by either of Maul's blades. Using a Force push, Maul puts Dooku out of the action. Maul then senses Jinn running up for another attack.
Deactivating both blades, Maul ducks as Jinn's blade starts its downstroke, and backfilps, hitting Jinn in the stomach with both feet and sending him flying over Dooku and over the edge.
Only one hand can be seen gripping the edge. Maul walks over and stamps on it.
The hand can no longer be seen.
Maul then walks over to a holo-projector unaffected by all the destruction, not paying attention to Dooku, who is slowly getting up again.
The projector then activates and a hooded figure is seen. Maul bows to it, and Dooku, who was stood up and halfway to Maul, stops.
"Hello my friend," the voice of Darth Sidious emanates from the holo-projector. "We have need of your services."
PART 2 [8/2/12]
"How?" Count Dooku asks.
Darth Sidious starts - "Well we need you t-"
"No. How do you come to be here."
"Well, Lord Maul here, is my apprentice," Sidious says.
"You never revealed yourself to be a Sith."
"I will in time. When I have overthrown the Jedi and the government."
"So how come you haven't overthrown me?"
"You should know the answer to that," Sidious hints. "I can feel your frustration with the Jedi Order and the Republic."
"So I ask again, why haven't you overthrown me?"
"You can say no if you want. Jedi with their consciences, always not wanting. Always not thinking. Always trusting in the Force. What I need you to do is-"
The hologram then disappears.
"Master?" Maul asks the air.
A slight thrumming sound alerts the two warriors at a destroyed water filtration duct that they are enemies, not friends. And enemies fight, not talk.
Maul's two blades activate and Dooku defends himself quickly. An open-topped large vehicle then rises up above the blind-sight of the duct. Five Jedi, including Qui-Gon Jinn ride the vehicle.
"Come on!" Jinn calls to Dooku.
A left stroke from Maul is blocked by Dooku, who uses the Force to push Maul over. Dooku then sprints for the vehicle.
When Darth Maul recovers, he sees that the vehicle has already flown away.
"They must have been tracking that signal," Darth Maul says, much later, to Darth Sidious, within the confines of The Works. "Well, we must find another way to get to him. The scouts report that
Sifo-Dyas will soon return to the Jedi Temple. We need to set up an ambush on him and quickly."
"Maybe I could do that."
"I know you would Lord Maul. I know you would. But being attacked by you is hardly the jolt Master Sifo-Dyas needs. Being killed by ones friend is more shocking to understand than being killed by the enemy."
"So what do I need to do?" Maul asks as the two turn a corner.
The Sith Infiltrator is waiting in the hangar. Droids are restocking vital supplies.
"Lead Jinn and Dooku on a chase that takes them to Sifo-Dyas. They will then talk. You reveal yourself, and let the fight commence. Knock Jinn and Dyas out, and capture Dooku. Reveal all of his task to him, then leave. But make sure Jinn and Dyas see you leaving. That is important. Then let events unfold."
"It will be done, my master. But why can't I kill Jinn? I have the power, but you say that I cannot."
"It is not whether you can or not. It is part of the greater plan. You will learn it soon. And so will Dooku. He will soon join us."
"I thought only two Sith could exist."
"Oh, he won't be a Sith though. Only a spy. And maybe one of two other things when we have need of them."
"Fine. I'll lead them through the Corellian Run. I'm assuming that is the way Dyas is heading?"
"Yes. The tracking beacon reads a route which looks like Druckenwell via Leritor."
"Plenty of time. I'll be back soon. Just watch for news about disruptions."
Darth Maul then walks to the Sith Infiltrator, and moments later, it takes off.
PART 3 [10/2/12]
"We have reports of a Trade Federation presence near Sarapin," Mace Windu says. "There is no-one else we can spare."
"We understand," Qui-Gon Jinn says. "Get there, wipe them out, check for anything unusual, and then return."
"What if Darth Maul is in the area?" Count Dooku asks.
"Unconfirmed, that is," Yoda retorts. "But engage him you may."
The four are walking down a corridor within the Jedi Temple. Qui-Gon and Dooku, both bearded, the former chestnut, the latter white. Yoda, small and green, but the wisest of them all. Windu, brown skin and bald, the calmest of them all.
Yoda, due to his height, uses a hover chair to move down the corridor.
"Just check it out," Mace Windu says. The four of them stop.
"We will," Qui-Gon says.
Qui-Gon and Dooku continue on to a hangar while Windu and Yoda stay still.
"Call for three Republic Cruiser's," Mace Windu says. "Just in case we've received false intel."
Three Republic Light Assault Cruiser's pop out of hyperspace. Long and red in colour with a triangular engine configuration, it has the cockpit at the front shaped like a half trapezium. The rest of the ship also has a trapezium shape. Each one is loaded with weapons and soldiers.
And in one of the three, two Jedi look out at the sprawl of Trade Federation control ships.
"At least two Lucrehulk-class Battleships out there," Count Dooku comments.
The Lucrehulk-class Battleships are shaped like a zero with one sixth of it missing. A spherical part in the middle of the zero is held with a slight tunnel, with the engines linked to it on the other side of the cylindrical zero.
"Still, let's go," Qui-Gon addresses the pilot. "And launch all fighters available."
The Z-95 Headhunters fly out of all the hangars. Vulture droids rush out to meet them.
Z-95 Headhunters are snub craft in a 'T' shape. A long nose and flat wings at the back, the engines lie either side of the back section above and below the wing-line. Two laser guns rest at each end of the wing. The Vulture droids, however, looked a lot more menacing. A flat plane with a head resting on the top section, each side of the flat plane has a half-split leg, which flips parallel to the head when in flight and is able to act like proper legs when on the ground. Weapon emplacements are hidden within the body.
Lasers flash in a web of light. Starfighters are little spiders in space, firing their webs. One fighter though, is hardly firing any lasers at all.
And any laser it does fire always hits its target.
"Pilot, lock on and get a scan of the fighter hardly firing any lasers," Qui-Gon says.
"Yes, sir," the pilot says, then working on a computer to work the request. "It appears to be some sort of stealth ship. Triangular at the front, it has a back end like that of a Vulture droid with the cockpit where the head would be. At each side is what appears to be wings."
"Right. Get a shuttle ready," Qui-Gon Jinn says. "I want a closer look at that ship. Dooku, let's go."
The two Jedi start to walk away when the pilot speaks again - "A shuttle is being readied. This astromech droid will show you to it."
The red astromech droid, a tin can on legs with a domed head, beeps to itself as it rolls in front of the two Jedi.
"Let's go," Dooku says.
"Hello," the technician says. "This is the only shuttle we could find, left over by a politician. No arguments, but me and R5-J2 need to accompany you."
"Fine," Qui-Gon says.
All three people and the droid walk into the shuttle, a Theta-class T-2c. Grey in colour and trapezium in shape, it has a long, flat vertical piece at the top and triangular folding wings. The cockpit is forward, and has a curving front which looks like a shoe.
The shuttle flies out of the hangar and into the enveloping battle taking place against a volcanic backdrop.
PART 4 [12/2/12]
"Follow that stealth craft," Count Dooku says.
"Sir. We aren't going into the battle are we?"
"Yes," Dooku says.
"Lucky we upgraded the shielding on this thing then," the pilot says.
The T-2c Shuttle speeds into the battle, locking on to the stealth craft and follows it. The stealth craft then pulls away from the battle and with a flash, disappears.
"It just jumped into hyperspace, next to a gravity well too," the pilot says. "Wait, we're getting something. It's at Recopia."
"Get going then. We cannot lose it," Qui-Gon Jinn says.
The engines of the shuttle reach a higher pitch, and a sonic boom sounds. The stars outside turn to starlines, and then a space warp. A few seconds later, the warp turns back to starlines, which then turns back to stars.
"There it is," the pilot comments. "Ah, not again."
The stealth craft jumps back into hyperspace.
"We'll just have to wait. Hold up. It's at Corellia."
"Well what are you waiting for?" Qui-Gon says.
Again the shuttle jumps to hyperspace.
From Corellia to Froz, and then to Nubia. At Nubia, the stealth craft waits a while longer, and then jumps again. They are left waiting in space for at least two hours by the time the stealth craft shows up on the galactic map, this time at Denon. The shuttle jumps, and by the time they reach the planet, the stealth craft is making its way planetward. Denon is a city planet, much like Coruscant, but with no skyscrapers as tall as Coruscant’s. The shuttle tracks the stealth craft to a deserted landing strip, which both craft then land on.
Maul runs, both blades active, to the shuttle. Jinn walks out, green blade held in defensive position. Maul uses the Force to close the door of the shuttle as Dooku is about to exit. A bang can be heard from where Maul is standing.
"Just you and me," he says.
"It doesn't matter," Jinn says. "Dooku will be back in this game soon enough. And you will be captured and taken to court."
"I think not," Maul says. "We will soon have the ultimate victory."
"We?" Jinn asks. But that is all he can ask.
A laser fires from the Sith Infiltrator and Maul swings out of the way. The bolt hits Jinn and sends him flying over the edge.
Maul then returns to the Infiltrator.
"Sir. He's taking off again," the pilot says.
"And Master Jinn is where?" Dooku asks.
"The last I saw him was outside with the person we're chasing."
"Mark this position. We'll come back later. Follow that craft."
The shuttle takes off, and follows the stealth craft at a closer range than before. Out into space, the stealth craft jumps again.
"Make a rapid calculation of where he's going," Dooku commands.
"The only planet within the Corellian Run following that course would be... Planets Osarian and Rhommamool."
"Head there then. I'm guessing that is where he is going."
The shuttle jumps to hyperspace, hopefully for the last time this journey.
PART 5 [14/2/12]
A craft pops out of hyperspace. The Delta-12 Skysprite, wedge-like in shape, has no hyperdrive of its own, instead using a Syluire-31 hyperspace docking ring to jump. As the Delta-12 undocks, another craft pulls around the planet, heading straight for the Delta-12. Triangular in shape, a lot bigger than the Delta-12, and grey. It unleashes two lasers, one from each gun port. One hits the hyperspace docking ring. The other hits the engines of the Delta-12.
Left with no propulsion, and pulled into the gravity well of the planet, the Delta-12 is stuck in orbit and is being pulled ever closer to the planet’s atmosphere.
The planet in question. Rhommamool.
The T-2c shuttle returns to realspace. The first thing that is spotted by the pilot is the Delta-12.
"Sir, shall we open up a contact?" the pilot asks.
"Yes. We need to be certain who it is we are dealing with here. This could be a trap," Count Dooku replies.
A crackle of static sounds through the speakers however, and then a voice erupts.
"Get away from here! You will surely be killed!"
"Open the link!" Dooku shouts. The pilot does as told. "Master Sifo-Dyas, what are you doing here?"
"I was on my way back from a mission. I was then shot at when defenceless," Sifo-Dyas replies.
"Try to land safely; we'll get you in this shuttle when we land."
"OK," Sifo-Dyas says uncertainly.
The Delta-12 is pulled into the atmosphere. The shuttle follows. A triangular craft then follows that a few seconds later.
The Sith Infiltrator banks left and lands a long way from the broken Delta-12 and the shuttle. Retracing where they landed, Maul walks up to the shuttle as Dooku walks out of it.
"You've got me on my own," Dooku comments. "What is needed to be done?"
"Follow," Maul says. The two start walking. "We need a spy within the Jedi Temple to report on what is happening. We also need Sifo-Dyas dead."
Dooku stops walking. "Why?"
"Well... Hmm... Sidious knows why. This way."
The two walk back to the Infiltrator, and a communication is set up.
Almost immediately, Darth Sidious appears. "What is i- So, you have brought Dooku along."
"Things didn't plan out how we would have hoped," Darth Maul says. "It was much wiser to do things this way."
"Why does Sifo-Dyas have to die?" Dooku asks, loud in voice.
"So we remain secret. And a project of ours does," Sidious says. "Sifo-Dyas found out about it, and decided to take things under his control. He was heading back to the Jedi Temple to report on it. That is why we need him dead."
"I still don't understand-"
"This is about loyalty to those who serve you well. Think about it! When have the Jedi ever let you do things your way? When have the Jedi ever listened and understood about the crumbling Republic? Together, all three of us, we can take the Republic for our own."
"I will think about it," Dooku comments. "Just make sure Maul stays here."
"It will be done," Maul says. "But what are you going to do?"
"Test my loyalty," Dooku answers.
PART 6 [16/2/12]
Count Dooku walks back to the shuttle and tells the pilot to take off.
"Maul is here," he says when the pilot tries to argue. "I've just battled him and done some damage to his vessel, but he is more than likely hiding waiting to strike Sifo-Dyas when he comes out. Why else would he be shooting craft down?"
"OK. OK. I'll get to the nearest city," the pilot says.
Dooku exits the shuttle and it takes off. He then walks to the downed Delta-12.
"Dooku!" Sifo-Dyas exclaims. "I told you not- Where's the person who shot me?"
"I have dealt with him," Dooku simply replies. "Now then, what is this project the Sith are working on?"
"The Sith? I don't know about any projects of the Sith."
"So what were you doing that means you are being chased by one?"
"They must have found out about it."
"About what?" Dooku questions.
"I set up an army. The Republic needs it."
"You were acting without consent from the Jedi Council. That is how the Sith so easily knew."
"No. It's not. I'm not," Sifo-Dyas implores. "You don't understand. I have foresaw the Jedi downfall. This army should protect them."
"Why didn't you say this to the Jedi Council?"
"I tried. They wouldn't listen."
"Then you should have tried harder to make them understand," a voice says.
Darth Maul is walking towards the two. Sifo-Dyas squeaks.
"Dooku. Kill him. He's the Sith!" Sifo-Dyas commands.
Dooku picks his blade from his hip and flips it in his hand.
"An army, no matter how strong," Dooku begins. He activates the blade. "Will never stop the downfall of the Jedi. Only prolong it. As for the Republic. It needs to die."
"No!" Sifo-Dyas exclaims. "No! You can't! The Republic will live because of what I have done!"
"The Republic will die because of what you have done," Dooku comments. "The Sith already know. And they are already using it in their plan."
"How do you know?" Sifo-Dyas asks. "How do you know what plans they have? You can't see into the minds of others!"
"No," Dooku says. "But I can ask them. Goodbye, my old friend."
Dooku then stabs the blade into the heart of Sifo-Dyas.
"It is done," Maul comments.
"We should take the body and secure it. One, so no Jedi can detect it. And two, it might be useful in the future," Dooku says.
"Now I see why you sent the shuttle away. Fine. Let's take it back to base."
Maul and Dooku use the Sith Infiltrator to take the body of Sifo-Dyas back to The Works on Coruscant. The body is put into a sealed chamber, where it cannot rot. Lord Sidious congratulates the two of their good work, and fills Dooku in on the spy work that needs to be taken place. Dooku accepts and asks a few questions. Then Sidious tells the two to return to their original positions and make it look realistic as to the events that happened.
What follows is the two return to Rhommamool, and Maul chases Dooku with the Sith Infiltrator. As soon as Dooku reaches the shuttles location, the Infiltrator pulls off. Dooku then spins a story to the pilot that he was indeed right, and Sifo-Dyas was killed by Maul. The two then return to Denon and pick up Qui-Gon Jinn. All three then return to Sarapin, to find the battle already won. The Trade Federation had fled after a bit, the pilots of a Republic Cruiser say.
Then comes the Jedi Council report when they return to Coruscant.
Meanwhile Dooku has changed Allegiance.
Meanwhile, darkness prevails.
Part 1 [27/1/12]
"There are a group of smuggler's, Lord Maul, that are getting out of hand," Darth Sidious says.
"What would you have me do?" Darth Maul replies.
"Put them in their place. And I'll give you a chance to wipe them out."
"What about Naboo? We worked hard to get that planet and keep it, and now you’re just leaving it unprotected," Maul says with a hint of frustration.
"Oh but it is protected, Lord Maul," Sidious purrs. "More than adequately protected."
"So where are these pirates and what are they doing?" Maul asks.
"Remember the Trade Federation, and its plans for a new droid factory on Rhen Var? Pirates have found the location where we started building."
"And what does that mean?"
"I do not know how skilled these pirates are, or who they work for. But it is more than likely they transferred the location to someone, whether for sabotage or an acquisition of the place. I need you to head there and find out."
"Yes my master."
"If they prove worthless, kill them. All of them."
"Yes, my master."
Alarms blare and lasers scream, and two lightsabers hum and screech, with zangs as lasers are reflected off them.
"Get them," a Battle Droid calls out, with a monotonous voice.
"Roger. Roger," the other droids call.
The Battle Droids then step back quickly, and double the number of bolts fired.
With a resonant howl, a lightsaber swoops down and cuts a Battle Droid in half. It crashes to the ground in pieces. Those pieces are then lifted by nothing and thrown at the other droids, which all get destroyed.
"There is nothing like beating someone with their own." Count Dooku says.
"Yes. But why did you have to do that?" Qui-Gon Jinn asks.
"Battle Droids are Trade Federation property. If these pirates have bought them, then they must be desperate for protection. We must show them that trusting protection to these weak things is wrong."
"Well if you say so. Now, let's get to the headquarters of these pirates."
The two Jedi walk on through the corridors of the pirate base, lightsabers held in defensive positions. Each time Battle Droids attack, the Jedi make sure none are left standing before moving on.
But still the alarms blare.
Still no-one else has shown themselves.
"Wait," Qui-Gon Jinn says, and deactivates his lightsaber.
"What are you doing?" Dooku asks.
"Keep quiet and deactivate your lightsaber as well."
Dooku does what Qui-Gon says, and then heads quietly over. Muffled voices can be heard.
Dooku uses the Force and the door quietly opens. The voice that rings out sounds scared.
Qui-Gon then boldly walks in to the room. The pirate looks even more terrified.
"What was that about?" Qui-Gon asks.
"Wh- Who are you?" the pirate asks.
"Don't worry," Dooku says, walking into the room as well, "We won't hurt you."
"We just want to know what happened." Qui-Gon says, waving his hand in a peculiar fashion.
The pirate’s eyes glaze over for a bit, then he starts to speak.
"We're looking for a new base. Jayno was investigating the Tobali system when he came across a construction site. It was full of the droids we hired for protection, so he and his gang went investigating. He was on the line to me when he was killed."
"Did you hear what did it?" Dooku asks.
"It sounded like a lightsaber," the pirate says. He then looks down, and sees a lightsaber hilt in Qui-Gon's hand. "Hey! You’re aft-"
He then drops down, asleep.
The two Jedi walk out of the room.
"We need to get back to the ship and report this to the Jedi Council." Qui-Gon Jinn says.
Part 2 [28/1/12]
In the Jedi High Council Chamber, the Masters are in conference. In the middle of the floor, Qui-Gon Jinn and Count Dooku stand as holo-figures, and report what they have found out.
"With a lightsaber?" Mace Windu asks in response to Qui-Gon's findings.
"That's what he said yes," Qui-Gon confirms.
"Trust him, you do, this pirate?" Yoda asks.
"He was under a very good influence from the Force. He could not have lied," Qui-Gon says.
"Well according to the archives, the only planet within the Tobali system that can support life is Rhen Var. An ice world," Ki-Adi-Mundi reports.
"What is your location?" Mace asks.
"Rhen Var is in sector R-6," Qui-Gon says. His hand disappears from view and then another hologram appears. This one a map of the galaxy. His hand reappears as he points to a planet. "And we are here, at Botajef, in sector O-6."
"Know that we should not get involved with pirates, I do. But darker, does this mystery seem. The Shadow Warriors involvement, there could be. Then again, a rival pirate gang it more likely is," Yoda says with the air of wisdom.
"Head there immediately, and report back on your findings," Mace Windu says.
"It will be done," Qui-Gon reports.
The holograms disappear.
"The Tobali system is near Felucia," Plo Koon says. "I seem to remember a scouting party was sent there some days ago."
"Contact them, we should," Yoda adds.
The pirates who remain all take cover as another snow ball is thrown from nowhere.
"This is ridiculous," one of them says.
"Just don't reveal our location to him," another says.
A third pirate starts to gargle. The others turn around to see a stark contrast of black against the white background.
"Oh great," the first pirate says, as a lightsaber activates.
The screams echo far and wide across the snowscape.
"All the pirates have been hunted down," Darth Maul reports, much later, to Darth Sidious.
"Very well. Tread carefully, though Lord Maul. If the Jedi have heard about this, they could descend on you faster than you would have time to prepare for. A scouting group was sent to Felucia a few days ago. Not far from your position."
"I will be vigilant, my master," Maul acknowledges.
The hologram fades away, and Maul looks up. A trail of vapour marks where a shuttle is descending to the surface.
"If you want a battle, I'll give you one." Maul quietly says.
A scream pierces the air and a lightsaber deactivates.
Two more Jedi descend from the shuttle hovering over Maul. Their lightsabers already activated, they jump into battle lively and fresh. Maul uses his dual-blades to block both of the Jedi blades at once. He twists the hilt of his lightsaber and the two Jedi's blades follow its circular tilt.
Both Jedi are knocked off guard. Maul takes advantage and deactivates both blades, jumps over the Jedi and swipes the hilt with the outside blade activating again.
Both Jedi are cut down as another one jumps from the shuttle, intent on catching Maul off guard too.
Maul senses the presence and follows up on the attack by throwing his blade at the incoming Jedi.
Without warning, that Jedi is cut in half too, and an engine is destroyed from the blades trajectory. As the blade returns to Maul's hand, the shuttle struggles to stay upright. Maul quickly attaches his lightsaber to his belt and uses the Force to destroy the other engine too.
As the shuttle heads down to the surface, Maul runs quickly for a hilly pass in the distance.
Part 3 [29/1/12]
"There. Smoke," Count Dooku points out.
"I see it," Qui-Gon Jinn reports.
The craft of the two Jedi changes trajectory to where the smoke rises. As it levels out to land, people are sighted walking out of the wreckage.
As soon as the craft lands, Qui-Gon is first out, running towards the people and wreckage. The temperature makes Qui-Gon shiver.
"What happened?" he calls out.
"We are of the Felucia scouting party," one of the people says, "The Jedi Council contacted us and said something needed investigating here."
"We saw a figure cloaked in black and decided that must be the person who was described. After sending four down to try to beat him, he cut all four down, and destroyed our engines," a second says, "We're all that's left."
"Did you see where he went?" Dooku asks when he comes within range.
"Over there to the pass," the third says pointing over to a snowy hillscape.
"Right then," Qui-Gon says, "Are you all that's remaining of the Felucia scouting party, or are there still others on the planet?"
"Only about a quarter of us were sent here," the first says.
"OK. Take our ship, head back to Felucia, and call the Jedi Council for reinforcements. Then get back here with as many others as you can pack into the ship. Got that?" Qui-Gon says.
"Yes, sir," the second says.
All three of the remaining group head to the craft which Qui-Gon and Dooku vacated. The craft takes off, with Qui-Gon and Dooku watching it.
Then the two Jedi start walking.
"If we need to make a quick escape, there is no chance of that now," Dooku says.
"Don't worry. I don't plan on making a quick escape," Qui-Gon says.
"Don't!" Dooku exclaims.
"Trust me," Qui-Gon says.
The two Jedi head further across the pass. A small speck of black can be seen against the white. As the two Jedi get nearer, that speck transforms slowly into a small figure, which then transforms into a hooded, cloaked man as the Jedi get within a few feet of it.
"Yes. I thought you would come soon enough," the figure says.
It throws back its hood to reveal a red and black patterned face with cranial horns. A long lightsaber is then unclipped and two blades activated.
"I'll have fun with this," Darth Maul says.
Part 4 [30/1/12]
"You must know you won't escape this time," Darth Maul says.
Count Dooku and Qui-Gon Jinn activate their lightsabers.
"We will in fact capture you this time," Jinn says.
Maul attacks. Bringing his blade swinging down upon Jinn's blade, he flips over it and at the same time kicks Dooku in the chest. Using vicious strikes, Maul forces Jinn deeper into the pass.
Maul senses Dooku charging and so uses the next attack to swing over Jinn's left side while the blades are locked. He spins around to see Dooku jumping over Jinn's head to bring his blade crashing down upon Maul.
Or where Maul was.
While Dooku is recovering from overbalance, Jinn joins the fight again.
The battle continues all the way down the pass, and in sight is a village. Maul retreats into it after knocking both Jinn and Dooku onto the floor.
Footsteps can be heard as Maul runs through a building, faint taps upon the floor. Any people in the way, he uses the Force to push them aside.
"We are following you and will catch up!" Jinn's voice sounds.
Maul snorts, "Only when I let you."
He turns a corner and jumps up to a control deck, then runs along that to reach to reach a computer terminal. A glass window is left of this, and through it, Jinn and Dooku are sighted.
"We know you are around here!" Jinn calls.
"And we will find you," Dooku adds.
Maul then hits a button and jumps through the window.
"Where are they?" one Jedi calls to another. "I thought you said they'd be here."
"I did," a second says. "They were hunting out the Shadow Warrior."
"And the last we saw of that was in this pass," a third comments.
"Too bad I found you first," a voice echoes throughout the pass.
"What?" the first Jedi exclaims.
"This room is enclosed. You have nowhere else to go," the voice of Dooku sounds.
"Over there!" the second Jedi shouts, pointing through the right side window.
The other two look out as well, and in the sky is Dooku, Jinn, and the Shadow Warrior shown in a larger than life hologram form.
"This will be the ultimate capture!" the Shadow Warrior's voice says menacingly, while the third Jedi says "Get over there then!"
Darth Maul charges with one blade active and attacks Dooku with ferocity. He then follows with an elbow uppercut to Dooku's chin. With Dooku out of action, Maul swipes Jinn off his feet and Force pushes him into a wall.
A loud crash and a lot of rubble falls from the ceiling.
Three Jedi then do the same, followed by six more.
"Surrender! You have nowhere to run!" one of them says.
"Fools!" Maul hisses, and on that word, Battle Droids fire upon the Jedi from high vantage points around the room.
One by one, the Jedi collapse. Once the last one has, Maul injects each Jedi, including Jinn and Dooku, with a liquid.
He then uses the Force to press the button to turn the holo-recorder off, and activates his own.
"My master, it is done. The pirates are no longer a problem, and we have extras. The Jedi will come running when they see what they are missing."
"Good," the voice of Darth Sidious says. "Move them to the droid factory and send the message. Meanwhile, a new scouting party can take a look at Felucia."
Part 5 [31/1/12]
On a dark night on Coruscant, Mace Windu, Yoda, Plo Koon and Ki-Adi-Mundi all sit in the chairs of the High Council chamber.
All are troubled. No word has yet come back from Rhen Var or Felucia. The Jedi discuss possible options as to why this is happening.
A beeping indicates a message, and the holo-projector built into the chambers floor lights up. An image of a warrior dressed in a black cloak is shown, and behind him are Count Dooku, Qui-Gon Jinn, and ten others all held in separate magna-locks.
"Jedi of the Temple, I present to you your weakness. Twelve of your Jedi warriors have faced me, Maul, and failed. Oh, they are still alive, but one by one, they will be killed. As I shall now demonstrate."
The far left magna-lock lights even brighter as electrical currents run through it. The more powerful the current, the brighter the magna-lock gets. Soon the Jedi is reduced to nothing but ash from the heat of the electric, and the currents running through him.
"Hurry up and save them, or all will be gone. Including your precious Jinn and Dooku."
The holo-image then dissolves into nothing.
"Act fast we will, if to save them our goal is," Yoda says.
Mace Windu turns to Plo Koon and says - "Round up the best we have and quickly instruct them of their task. Give them the co-ordinates but make sure they arrive on time."
"I will get them on their way, and with permission, I would like to join them so I can deliver the briefing on the way," Plo Koon says.
"Permission granted," Mace Windu affirms. "Just make sure they get everyone else back."
"The message was sent approximately three hours go, my master," Darth Maul says.
"And you did exactly as I said?" Sidious asks.
"Yes, my master."
"Then I grant you permission to dispose of another Jedi. The tides turn in our favour, and soon no Jedi will be left."
"Then we shall rule?"
"Yes. We will rule, my friend. But first other events must take place."
A door bangs faintly.
"It appears the Jedi have reached you far more quickly than I would have hoped. I give you permission to dispose of any who attack you."
Sidious' holo-image disappears as the door to the office Maul stands in breaks open.
"Stand and fight, Maul. All Jedi will soon be rescued," Plo Koon says.
"Not if the droids have anything to say about it," Maul says.
He then activates his blades and charges, sweeping downwards.
Colan Zerr runs with fourteen other Jedi down an unprotected corridor. At the end is an open room where Qui-Gon Jinn and Count Dooku can be seen hanging in magna-locks.
As they head through the opening, Battle Droids that were hiding along the walls instantly ambush them. The readiness of the Jedi serves them well, however, as none are injured but half the Battle Droids get destroyed instantly.
The rest double the attack.
Plo Koon blocks the attack with ease and forces Maul back inside the office. The other three Jedi then surround Maul as well.
"Your move," Plo Koon says. "Although I would surrender if I were you. Four to one. You are outnumbered."
"I don't think so," Maul snarls.
Using the Force, Maul pushes the two Jedi on his sides into the walls, then activates his blade into the Jedi behind him.
"You two! Quick!" Plo Koon calls, using a Force push himself on Maul.
The other two Jedi recover quickly and charge through the opening. Plo Koon himself then backward walks it out and uses the Force to crash the ceiling over the doorway.
"That should stop him," Plo Koon says. "Now come. Zerr and his companions are in trouble I sense.
Plo Koon, a Kel Dor male from the planet Dorin. His family is strong with the Force. As his home world has little oxygen in the atmosphere, whenever he is off planet he is forced to wear an Antiox Breath mask. The mask covers his mouth and nose, and also has to have eye protection. An able swordsman with a blue blade, he is one of Qui-Gon Jinn's friends. That is also another reason he is here. To rescue a friend and uncover deeper mysteries that resolve around Maul and the Trade Federation.
Colan Zerr breaks each of the magna-locks holding each Jedi in place, while the others protect them all. The last Battle Droid is destroyed by a reflected bolt, knocking its head right off.
The Jedi start to lower their blades, but a crack in the ceiling brings the blade high again. The crack widens and five Droideka's fall down.
Lasers blasting and shields active, the Droideka is more commonly known as the Destroyer Droid, although a refined description is a 'rolling death ball'.
The Jedi are quickly outnumbered, with bolts getting through and killing those Jedi that are unconscious.
The ceiling then comes down fully, destroying the Droideka’s.
The dust and rubble settles and Plo Koon is seen with blade active in a defensive position.
"Let's get these away from here and set the bombs. We'll hopefully take Maul along with this place," Plo Koon says.
"Yes, sir," Colan Zerr says, and arranges for charges to be set.
One Jedi then carries an unconscious one each while the rest play protection.
Darth Maul crawls out of the rubble that fell, and uses the Force to break a hole in the ceiling. He then jumps onto the roof and runs along to a hangar, swinging into it by grabbing the pipe running on the edge. He then heads inside the Sith Infiltrator, and blasts out of the hangar.
A second later, the factory blows up.
Part 6 [1/2/12]
"They were ready for us," Colan Zerr reports to the Jedi Council. "It was lucky we got out."
"We trapped the Shadow Warrior, who revealed himself as Maul," Plo Koon adds.
"Good this is, but trapped do you think he still is?" Yoda asks.
"We blew up the base afterwards," Colan Zerr says.
"But still the dark resides," Mace Windu says. "And this isn't the time. We need to check on those rescued, so if you'll excuse us."
"Not at all," Zerr says.
Mace Windu, Plo Koon, Kit Fisto, Yoda, Ki-Adi-Mundi and two others exit the High Council Chamber.
"They are in perfect hibernation," the Jedi Medic says, "But we detected an anomaly within their blood that seems to be the cause for that hibernation."
"We'll see what we can do," Mace Windu says.
The six Jedi crowd around one of the Jedi in hibernation and each place a hand on some part of the skin.
"Tell me what it appears as," Mace Windu says slowly.
"It fills part of the blood cell with some liquid which stops it operating properly. When it gets to the brain, it is deposited and influences the brain to slow down. You should be able to remove it using the Force."
The minutes pass and nothing happens. The time crawls on.
Fifteen minutes later, the Jedi starts to show signs of life. Fifteen minutes after that, the Jedi wakes with a start and a gabbled "I'm sorry! I couldn't stop him!" He looks panicked so the Jedi medic gives a calming draught.
"We know what to do now. Let's set to work on the rest," Mace Windu says.
"Keep at it we must," Yoda comments."Stop at nothing we can until all Jedi are healed."
"All concentrate on one Jedi at a time and it will be more beneficial to us. Tiring, but quicker as well," Kit Fisto says.
The Jedi set to work on one Jedi after another, until the last one is awake again.
"It was a trap the whole time," Qui-Gon Jinn says. "He allowed us to follow to a place that was enclosed, and once we were boxed he could strike effectively. Even the reinforcements we sent for weren't any good. It truly was a trap, and I think a trap to show how weak the Jedi are."
"This is not good news," Ki-Adi-Mundi admits. "But still we must persist with current matters. Would you say the adversary you were facing was a Sith Lord?"
"I can guarantee it, masters," Count Dooku says. "A red blade and cold blooded. Even talks like a Sith. Nothing but black or white in all speech."
"We will continue to investigate the matter, but for now, I'm sure you would like to rest," Mace Windu says.
"Thank you masters," Qui-Gon says. Both bow and exit the chamber.
"We've got some investigating of Rhen Var to do. That base was a fake. There would have been better protection. We need to send new scouting teams to Rhen Var, and back to Felucia. We must find the Droid Factory at Rhen Var and communicate with the Felucians of the forests," Mace Windu commands.
"I know that this has affected us greatly, my master," Darth Maul says. "The confusion within the Jedi Order must have reached a climax by now."
"I'm sure it has Lord Maul, I'm sure it has," Darth Sidious replies. "But we need to be sure and we need to act quicker on some things.
"I think it is time we brought our Jedi spy into the picture."
"How will you contact him?" Darth Maul asks.
"You will set up something that will get him to a secure location. Alone. Disable or kill any other Jedi, but the spy must remain."
"It shall be done, my master."
During the Rhen Var mission, the recapture of Naboo by the Jedi was a success. Queen Amidala contacted the Jedi Order, and also Chancellor Palpatine, and congratulated them on a job well done.
The Jedi Masters contact the Jedi team sent to Naboo, and split them into two groups for scout work on both Rhen Var and Felucia.
Meanwhile, Sifo-Dyas finishes transactions that should not have taken place.
Part 1 [18/1/12]
Qui-Gon Jinn heads back to Mos Espa after delivering the hyperdrive and other parts for the Queen’s Nubian craft, which were won by the boy Qui-Gon was heading back to see.
However a cloaked figure stands in the way. He pulls out a shining hilt, a menacing grin upon his face, and activates it. A red blade appears from the left side, which the cloaked figure raises into battle position. Qui-Gon then pulls out his own lightsaber and activates it, taking battle stance.
The cloaked figure then moves forward with his blade angled for a left swing uppercut. Qui-Gon blocks it, but just as fast, the red blade of the adversary heads to a right swing down-stroke, which Qui-Gon barely blocks.
Realising he can’t fight the figure, he decides to run.
He turns around and uses the Force to increase his speed. The cloaked figure throws his lightsaber at Qui-Gon, who realises the blades approach and blocks it.
The craft is in sight, but Qui-Gon lets his guard down, and the cloaked figure catches up quick enough to attack again.
Qui-Gon again barely blocks it.
“Master!” a shout rings out. Obi-Wan Kenobi comes rushing out of the craft, lightsaber already activated, and joins the battle. “Just go! I’ll take him.”
Qui-Gon at first fights with Obi-Wan, but as the fighting progresses with swift strokes, parries and ripostes, he realises he can’t keep up with Obi-Wan agility. Vowing that as soon as he is aboard - he will rescue Obi-Wan, Qui-Gon then heads to the craft.
Captain Panaka is waiting just inside the craft.
“That is one hard fighter to beat,” Panaka says.
“I know,” Qui-Gon adds, “Is the ship ready for take-off?”
“We can finish installing the hyperdrive while in the air. The main thing is to get away from that thing out there.”
“But Obi-Wan. We can’t just leave him.”
“We’ll do what we can,” Panaka states.
Qui-Gon relaxes upon hearing this.
The two then head to the bridge, where Panaka tells the pilot to take off. Slowly, they head to the fighters’ position, keeping the boarding ramp open. Qui-Gon then walks back out to the ramp, and Panaka follows him, knowing what the Jedi can be like.
Viewing from the open ramp, Qui-Gon then sees the cloaked figure activate a second blade from the other side of the hilt.
Unfortunately, Obi-Wan, who had bent his adversary’s blade back so it almost touched his head, didn’t. Deactivating the blade closest to him, the cloaked figure then drives it through Obi-Wan’s body.
“Noooooooo!” Qui-Gon shouts, and is about to jump out to continue the battle, but Panaka holds him back.
“Think about what your Padawan has just done. Don’t risk that sacrifice by sending yourself to death.”
“You- You’re right,”Qui-Gon amends.
“Pilot! Let’s get gone, and quick,” he then shouts.
Back on the ground, the cloaked figure watches the craft make its getaway. He then pulls out a portable holo-projector and activates it. After waiting a few seconds, the screen then resolves to show another cloaked figure. Only the nose can be seen from within the hood, which is long and crooked.
“Report,” the hooded holo-figure says in a gravelly voice.
“It has begun, my master. The droid army of the Trade Federation and the blockade of Naboo will no longer be able to be stopped.”
“You have done well, then. Report back immediately. I have more Jedi for you to hunt, Lord Maul.”
Part 2 [19/1/12]
A spacecraft heads into the dark area of Coruscant which used to belong to a wealthy company, but now is a slum city. This place is The Works, the secret hiding place of the Sith.
The craft lands inside a hangar, where a robed figure stands. The ramp of the craft extends, and another robed figure walks out.
“What is thy bidding, my master?” Darth Maul asks.
“There is a Jedi, my friend. A Jedi who would be a great threat to us,” Darth Sidious exclaims. “This Jedi, while not a master, holds secrets that could destroy us. We could be revealed.”
“Give me his location and I will hunt him down. But what about my other mission to bring Queen Amidala to Naboo?” Maul says.
“Yes, yes. Don’t worry about that,” Sidious replies. “I will make sure that the queen will stay on Coruscant until it is necessary to move her. Master Jinn will be suffering after you so brilliantly killed his padawan. He won’t be on form, which means your capture of the queen when it comes to it will be successful.”
“And then we will be revealed?”
“You will show yourself, yes. And that will cause confusion within the Jedi Order. They won’t know who you are, as remember, only two Sith exist at any one time. A master and an apprentice. The crisis of Naboo will be the first part of the greater plan to bring about the end of the Jedi.”
“The thing we have wanted for a long time. The final revenge of the Sith.”
“Yes. Anyway. To business. Head to Vandelhelm and dispose of Jedi Knight Cutla Saar. He holds info relating to this place, and once he finds a way off Vandelhelm, he could destroy us. My spies have kept him grounded for this amount of time, but it is only a matter of time before he does escape.”
“I will do it quickly and efficiently, my master,” Darth Maul exclaims.
“Good,” Darth Sidious hisses.
Both master and apprentice bow their heads, and then Darth Maul heads back to his craft. The craft lifts off, whipping Sidious’ cloak in its updraft.
The Jedi Temple stands tall and old, with the Grand Council Chamber the highest point of it. Inside the Grand Council Chamber, the Jedi Masters hold discussion.
“And I can only say that this warrior was trained in the Jedi arts. Only that could be the reason why Obi-Wan was so easily slain, and I met my death almost as well,” Qui-Gon Jinn finished.
“Padawan, was Obi-Wan Kenobi. Not able to hold his own in a fight against an able bodied warrior, he could not. Believe this assailant to be Sith, I do not,” Yoda exclaims.
“I’m not too sure,” Mace Windu says slowly. “Obi-Wan was learning from the best. I trust Qui-Gon would be able to fight a warrior as powerful as this. Obi-Wan should also be able to have held in a fight.”
“Until proven this point is, it is irrelevant,” Ki-Adi-Mundi adds. “What matters is the fact that the queen of Naboo is still in danger. Qui-Gon, you should be aided by Dooku, and we should then try to uncover the full extent of this mystery.”
“Agreed,” Mace Windu says.
“Trust Dooku less, I do. But a plan of action we need to create, and best for field work, the duo are. Agree, I do,” Yoda says.
“Dooku will be contacted and your mission will be delivered once you two are together,” Mace concludes.
Part 3 [20/1/12]
“I hear young Obi-Wan Kenobi met his fate with a warrior the Jedi fail to note is obviously a Sith,” Count Dooku says to Qui-Gon Jinn. Both are walking down a corridor to the main Temple hangar.
“I know of this. I could have killed that monster that killed him too,” Qui-Gon retorts.
“Now. Now. Jedi shouldn’t feel revenge or hate. But I understand. He was like a son to you after all. But we have other matters to attend to.”
“Why do you even put up with the Jedi Council? I know you don’t like them.”
The two reach the hangar and a tech leads them to the craft they have been assigned to. Count Dooku climbs up first, with Qui-Gon following. Both head into the bridge of the craft, seat themselves, and face each other.
“You didn’t answer my question,” Qui-Gon remarks.
“I feel the Jedi have ruined themselves to protect this decadent Republic. A far better rule could be founded, if only someone would stand up to Valorum and the Jedi,” Dooku answers.
“Well then, we’ve got some investigating to do anyway,” Qui-Gon says. “Shall we get going?”
In answer, Dooku turns around to face the windscreen and the controls, starts up the engines, and lifts the craft up.
Then they speed off into the distance.
The Sith Infiltrator lands on a pad designed to accommodate much larger. Maul exits, and goes to press a button on his wrist computer.
He looks left. Up. Right. A clang then brings Darth Maul spinning to face a man who has jumped onto his craft. The man is wearing the traditional robes of the Jedi, and also holds a lightsaber. He activates it, lifts the blade up with a resonant hum, and then holds it up to defensive position.
“I’ve been here too long to give up the fight now,” the man says, “trying to find a way out, and with everything backfiring on me. But now a ship has come. First, I will kill you, then take this back to Coruscant.”
“I’m guessing you are Cutla Saar. You won’t be getting my ship that easily. And the secret hiding place of the Sith will remain secret,” Darth Maul retorts.
“So it is true then. The Sith really did find out. Fine,” Saar says, and then he throws the lightsaber at Maul.
Maul, using his quick reflexes, dodges the blade, activates his own, and holds it behind him, while Saar recalls his own blade. Saar then jumps and brings his blade slamming down upon Maul. Maul blocks the attack and backflips, kicking the Jedi in mid-flight.
When he regains his feet, Maul sees the Jedi running for the ramp of the Sith Infiltrator, and so throws his blade in a Force-powered arc. The Jedi catches the blade to throw it back, but in doing so gives Maul an advantage. Maul rushes up to Saar and grabs his wrist, twisting it downwards. The still activated blade cuts through the flesh of one leg, but Saar quickly releases Maul’s blade and twirls out of the way.
“I might be injured, but my power is still strong!” Saar shouts.
Maul attacks, while Saar holds his blade to defend against the attack. A left-stroke downwards. A right-stroke upwards. A full vertical down-stroke gives Saar an uneasy flitter of panic but quickly throws up his sword arm to defend against the incoming blade. Realising that he doesn’t have the strength to keep his blade straight with just one arm, Saar lifts his other arm to the lightsabers grip as well. But even so, the blade slowly tilts toward his head.
“Admit defeat, and deactivate your blade,” Maul says, “Or die in shame of having been killed with your own blade.”
“Then die in shame I will,” Saar says. His sword arm starts crumpling under the strength of Maul’s power. “I won’t admit to being a coward.”
Just then, the blades spark and repulse from each other. Quick as a flash, Maul deactivates one blade and activates the other side just as it heads to Saar’s sword hand. That hand cut off, Maul calls Saar’s blade to his other hand and with a swift down-stroke to the right, cuts Saar down.
Maul looks down; deactivates both blades. Then he walks to the Sith Infiltrator.
After a few minutes, the craft takes off.
Part 4 [21/1/12]
“We have to concede defeat. There is nothing here,” Qui-Gon Jinn amends.
“As to that, I think you are right,” Count Dooku confirms. “No sighting of any Sith activity in this area of Coruscant.”
A beeping sounds from Qui-Gon’s wrist. He presses a button and a hologram of Mace Windu appears. A frown crosses his face, distorted from the quality of the blue tinted holo.
“What is it?” Qui-Gon asks.
“We need you back here immediately,” Mace Windu says. “We have just received word that Queen Amidala of Naboo is heading back home. We need you to play protection.”
“I will do my part,” Qui-Gon says.
“Oh, and bring Dooku along too. His skills are exceptional,” Windu adds.
“It will be done,” Qui-Gon says. The hologram then dissolves out.
Qui-Gon then turns to Dooku. “Are you up for one more mission from the Council?”
“I will. But I ask for old times’ sake, will you not leave with me, once this mission has been complete?” Count Dooku pleads.
“I will think about it,” Qui-Gon says, but with a tone that disagrees.
“You know as well as I do the corruption of the Republic,” Dooku tries again.
“Now is not the time for this discussion,” Qui-Gon says with finality.
Darth Maul answers the beeping comlink, while also keeping his controls in check.
“Report,” the gravelly voice of Darth Sidious calls.
“Cutla Saar is dead, my master. He will no longer be able to return,” Darth Maul reports.
“Good. Queen Amidala is heading back to Naboo. Arrive before her and set up our forces to find her as soon as she lands.”
“It will be done, my master.”
“I sense something troubling, Lord Maul. Be careful on your travels.”
“I will, my master.”
As a beep resounds through the craft, a shot rings on the shields.
Maul looks down at the rear-view screen and sees two craft following. Another laser erupts from one of the craft, and Maul quickly pulls the Infiltrator downwards. The two craft then break apart, one following at a distance while the other disappears from view. Maul looks inside himself and uses the Force to detect where the other craft went. He senses a human falling in trajectory with the Infiltrator, using a jetpack to keep him level.
Maul pulls the Infiltrator to the left and snap-rolls it upwards.
A laser fires from the craft in the distance, but with a careful nudge of the controls, Maul evades it.
Another snap-roll brings the Infiltrator over the top of the enemy craft. Using the Force, Maul carefully manipulates the controls to bring the Infiltrator alongside the other craft and nudges it slightly off course. The man clinging to it scrabbles quicker on the holds to reach the pilots seat. Another shot from the distant craft hits his companion craft instead, causing it to blow its left wing and killing the man holding on.
With one craft down, and one to go, Maul opens the hatch of the Infiltrator and jumps out, using the Force to reduce his vertical drop greatly. The other enemy craft speeds past and Maul grabs hold of a grip, using the Force again to protect himself from crumpling due to the great impact.
Activating his lightsaber, Maul opens the pilot’s cockpit and kills him in the process.
Manipulating the controls by the Force alone, Maul guides the craft to parallel with the Infiltrator, and plants a detonator on the crafts’ hull.
Dropping back onto the Infiltrator with the gravity generator taking affect, Maul quickly heads inside and yaws to the left.
Not a moment later, the enemy craft blows up.
With no more enemies pursuing him, Maul takes the Infiltrator up into space, and plots the co-ordinates to Naboo. With one final check, he pushes a button and jumps to hyperspace.
Part 5 [22/1/12]
The Sith Infiltrator pops out of hyperspace, the planet of Naboo hanging right in front of it. The craft then speeds toward the planet, past the Trade Federation control ship that lies in orbit, and into the atmosphere. Out of the clouds, the beautiful city of Theed appears. The palace shines in the sun, but there is no-one around the city to admire it. The Infiltrator angles toward one of the palaces hangars. On it, two Neimoidians wait.
The Infiltrator lands and the ramp extends out. Darth Maul appears and storms past the Neimoidians, who take this ignorance a gesture to follow. Tall beings with headdresses and cloaks of many colours, the Neimoidians are the leaders of the Trade Federation.
The two follow Maul to the palaces throne room, where he then turns around and addresses them. “The queen will soon be arriving and I need to contact Sidious.”
“Y- Yes. O- Of course,” one of the Neimoidians says.
The Neimoidians are also cowards, and so while one of them heads off to contact Sidious, the other stands nervously, twisting his hands and moving from foot to foot. Maul glares at him with menace and the Neimoidian moves backwards quickly.
“It is done, my lord,” the other Neimoidian reports. “Lord Sidious waits.”
“Good,” Maul says. “Stay out of my way while I speak with him.”
The two Neimoidians quickly back off, and Maul makes his way to a holo-projector, where Sidious’ face waits. Maul bows to it.
“Rise, my apprentice,” Sidious says. “Now. I have some interesting news and I need you to listen carefully. The queen is again being protected-”
“I shall wipe out any protection I face,” Maul says with vigour.
“I have no doubt about that, my friend. But one of them is Obi-Wan’s master, Qui-Gon Jinn. I’m sure you’ll have no trouble taking him down. But another is our friend and spy, and will most likely be with Jinn. Should he reveal himself to you, you need to be quick in thinking, and be able to improvise without harming him too much.”
“I understand, my master.”
“Now go. And do not fail me. There is no room for failure here. We need to keep everything exactly as I planned for the next phrase to begin.”
“Yes, my master,” Darth Maul says, and the holo-image dissolves away. Maul the walks to a window and watches the sky, where a faint trail can be seen as a sleek ship makes its way to the swamps.
“Track that ship and hunt it down,” Maul tells an officer. “I want to see them all go down. All except the queen, our spy, and Qui-Gon Jinn.”
Part 6 [23/1/12]
In the control centre of the palace, frantic activity is taking place.
Neimoidians are rushing around to check status machines and to transfer information. Yet in the middle of all this chaos, Darth Maul stands next a holo-figure of Darth Sidious.
“We are sending all available troops into battle my lord,” Maul reports.
“Good. The queen has made a foolish move. Make sure she pays. Disable, not kill, the Jedi and draw them away from the main action,” Sidious says.
“Why not kill, my master?”
“Oh I know you do, so much. But wait. Things will become clearer as the plan comes into action. Once they are disabled, hunt down the queen and force her to sign the treaty.”
“It will be done, my lord.”
The army of the Trade Federation heads out to the plains to meet the army of the Gungan’s. A battle takes place within one of the palace hangars for control of the craft, sleek N-1 Starfighters. The Gungans use shields to protect them against the laser fire of the AAT’s. Naboo pilots rush to the N-1 Starfighters after the astromech droids are rescued from lockers. The battle in the hangar dies down, but the battle of the plains has only just begun. The MTT’s unleash the squadrons of battle droids hidden inside, deactivated. The racks extend out and off-load all the battle droids. And with a touch of a button in the Droid Control Ship, all of them activate and charge through the Gungan shields. At the hangar, the queen, Jedi and Naboo soldiers proceed to the iron draw-doors, which slowly start to open.
But all pull back, as Darth Maul lies in wait.
“We’ll handle this. This is a job for Jedi,” Qui-Gon Jinn says.
“We’ll go the back way,” one of the handmaiden’s shouts, and the rest of the group turn tail.
N-1 Starfighters are now streaking out of the hangar, but Maul has eyes only for Qui-Gon Jinn and Count Dooku. Maul dispatches his cloak and the Jedi do the same. Maul then pulls out his lightsaber, and activates both sides.
Jinn and Dooku both do the same.
“I have the advantage. You are outnumbered,” Maul says.
“Not seriously,” Jinn retorts.
Both Jinn and Dooku then attack as one. Maul deflects both attacks by holding his blade almost vertical and twisting around to the left. He then kicks Dooku aside to battle with Jinn one-on-one. After a brief exchange, Dooku is back in the battle, so Maul uses the Force to send some boxes flying at Jinn’s head.
He barely deflects them. Dooku and Maul have taken the battle further afield, along a corridor. Jinn quickly runs to aid Dooku, but arrives too late. Dooku gets kicked out of a window, and Maul then follows up as Jinn arrives by throwing him out of the window as well.
Without looking back, Maul then runs down the corridor and around a corner.
Hanging onto the windows ledge, however, is Dooku.
And hanging onto Dooku’s left leg is Qui-Gon Jinn.
Using the Force, the two help each other up into the corridor again, and assess their damages.
At the palace throne room, Padme Amidala holds Nute Gunray hostage. The doors are closed but a hissing can be heard.
That hissing then stops.
A zap then sounds and then the crashing of metal is heard. A red plasma bar feeds its way around the door, cutting away quickly. The door then blasts inwards, and Darth Maul is standing in the doorway.
“We will in fact sign the previous treaty,” he says. “This invasion will be legal.”
“You’ll never force me,” Amidala stubbornly says.
“There is nothing you can do.”
All other doors open and droids come pouring in, surrounding Amidala and the others.
“Sir,” one of the droids says. “The Gungans have retreated and we are chasing them into the
“Scratch that,” Maul says. “We have won anyway.”
“Er. Yes sir.”
Naboo is lost to the Trade Federation. The Gungans are recovering from the battle, and all the pilots in space were defeated.
Nute Gunray and the main Neimoidian entourage head out of Naboo and back to base. Darth Maul also heads out.
On Coruscant, Palpatine is elected Chancellor, and the first announcement he makes is that Naboo will be retaken, and a Jedi task force will do it.
At the Jedi Temple, Qui-Gon Jinn persuades Dooku to stay longer, and in the Council Chamber, Darth Maul has indeed created confusion within the ranks. The Jedi argue over whether the Sith really have returned.
Meanwhile, Sifo-Dyas heads to a distant planet twelve parsecs off the Rishi Maze.
The Trade Federation have made a daring move. Blocking all trade to the small planet of Naboo, Chancellor Valorum has sent Qui-Gon Jinn and Obi-Wan Kenobi to settle the matter.
However, the devious Trade Federation avoided them and the Jedi had no choice but to head to the surface, where they stumble upon a Gungan who helps them after being rescued by Jinn. Traveling through the planet core, the trio arrive at Theed, where they rescue the queen and pilots placed under guard.
Blasting away from the planet, they barely escape from the blockade alive and run to Tatooine where they meet Anakin Skywalker, a slave boy who races in the podracing. With guidance from Jinn, Anakin wins against his rival Sebulba at the Boonta Eve podrace and they recieve the parts needed for the starships repair.
Already, though Darth Maul is descending upon the planet in his hunt for the queen.
