Part 1 [16/4/12]
Mandalorians were common people in the Old Republic's rule, working for the Sith and frequently killing Jedi. The Sith turned on them, like they turned upon each other, and soon the Mandalorians and Sith were at war with each other. The Mandalorians had no country. No home. Their home was their heart, as they were a nomadic people. Warriors. The armour was a reflection of their saying 'It's what's underneath a Mandalorian's armour that makes him who he is. A warriors heart.' And it was true. The armour colours were also a reflection of each individuals' chosen life.
And soon the Mandalorians had taken refuge on the planet Mandalore, but while they made it home, it wasn't truly so. Other planets took heart from the Mandalorian way of life, planets like Concord Dawn, and some joined forces with them.
Soon however, war became less frequent, and so the Mandalorians, often traveling to help in a war that wasn't their cause, had nothing left to do. A splinter group called Death Watch formed, wanting to return the Mandalorians to their true fighting spirits, causing mayhem and destruction. The Jedi were called in, and the forces of Death Watch wiped out by Master Dooku.
All but one was killed however. Jango Fett, originally from Concord Dawn, survived and escaped custody, hunting the leader of Death Watch, Tor Vizsla, and killing him. The rest of Death Watch dispersed, Jango was free to roam the galaxy, taking back his armour and securing his heritage of Mandalorian.
In the same year of the Naboo crisis, the same year Sifo Dyas contacted a group of cloners to create an army, Jango Fett is still at large, and is tracking down a Dark Jedi causing trouble in the galaxy.
Jango Fett. Mandalorian. Wearing his blue and silver plated armour, and at the controls of his similarly coloured 'craft - Slave 1, the forth moon on Bodgen came into view as he blasted out of hyperspace.
The information found by Rozatta, a Toydarian bounty hunter, had led him here. The Bogden system. The forth moon held the Dark Jedi he was after, and he would soon kill her.
Landing on a rocky alcove, Jango exited the ship, a Firespray-class starship stolen from a base he had blew up with stated ship, and looked around the area. The Firespray was like a gun on a curved mount. The flat end housed the engines which rested on the ground. Sticking up and curving so it was parallel to the ground, a thin body section made up the rest of it.
Using his jetpack he wore, Jango flew further away from the ship looking for any points of interest. He landed to scout the area again. His face was covered by a helmet he wore, same colour as his armour, but his expression was indicated by the sigh he gave out.
Then something swung a punch at him. Jumping out of the way, Jango fired his pistol instinctively. A squeal sounded. Jango looked at what he had killed. It was humanoid, with a weird shaped head and two long ears. Grey skin.
Two more jumped from a small mountain near his location. Again Jango fires. Both pistols. Somehow the two creatures avoid the lasers and pursue their attack upon him.
Well this is interesting, Jango thinks.
Part 2 [19/4/12]
Jango uses his jetpack to rise above the ground. He then fires both pistols in a left-left-right manouevre and catches one of the things dead. The other jumps up and Jango, still in the air, moves swiftly left and fires one pistol into the head of his would-be assailant. It drops down dead and lands next to the other.
Landing, and keeping an eye on his surroundings, Jango walks on. On the horizon, what looks like a building or a tower can be seen. Jango quickly walks to it, but again is ambushed. But this time not by those creatures.
"Montross," Jango states, ducking and twirling away from a laser fired at him.
The two were rivals, with Montross having a grudge on Fett for being favoured by Jaster Mereel. With his brutal tactics and reckless acts, he left Mereel to die during an engagement on Korda 6, attempting to claim the title of Mand'alor - the sole ruler of Mandalore. Jango, having learned of this, took the true story of Mereel's death to the Mandalorians and claimed the title himself, much to the anger of Montross. After also receiving the summons to stop the Dark Jedi Komari Vosa, Montross did battle with Fett on both Coruscant and Malastare, tracking Fett to lead him to Vosa. After killing Rozatta, Montross then arrived on Kohlma, the forth moon of Bogden. Seeing Fett already on the ground and fighting, he had to greet him and put an end to his meddling.
A human male with white hair and brown eyes, Montross had a worn long face. With gold Mandalorian armour, with the plates cut off at the elbows he had a range of weapons at his disposal, just like Fett.
Weapons would do no good against the Mandalorian armour though.
"I will be the one to kill Vosa, Fett," Montross says, "because I hunt not for the money, but for the pleasure."
"And that's why I will take live captures," Fett retaliates. "I prefer the more challenging bounties."
"Hah. Just like old times, Fett! You and me, man to man, face to face. Only now we do this to the death! May the best man win." Montross' voice was steel.
"I am the best, always was."
"We'll see about that." Montross aims a precision shot at Fett between the armour plates. The joints were always the weakest points to aim at.
Jango dodges again and fires his own pistols, aiming for the bare skin. The lasers make contact, but only graze the skin. Montross then charges Jango, but a quick roll to the side and kick out knocks Montross to the floor. Montross fires again while getting up, but the laser just zangs off Jango's helmet. Jango then fires both pistols into Montross' arms again, this time hitting his gun arm.
"You might have wounded me, but I can still fight," Montross says, before picking up the gun with his left hand and firing.
The laser strikes Jango on a forearm plate, but it doesn't slow him down as he fires multiple bolts into Montross' ankles. Darkness is slowly descending, and Jango it seems has won the fight. For good measure, he shoots the gun from Montross' left hand and turns to leave.
"Aren't you going to kill me?" Montross asks. "This is a duel to the death!"
"I've already won," Jango says without turning. "And besides, why stop the locals from enjoying a meal?"
And with that, he walks away. The screams can still be heard echoing across the distance when Jango is halfway to the building that is the lair of Vosa.
Part 3 [22/4/12]
The building was indeed a tower. It looked more like a fortress. For a fortress though, the door had opened easily enough. Someone wanted to be found.
The place had an eery darkness about it, and Jango moved with slow care. Up some stairs he moves, but then is instantly bowled over. Jango tries to escape, twisting and writhing, but then someone removes his helmet and he is knocked out.
When he awoke again, Jango tries to move his arms only to find them strapped down. Then a whip lashes and strikes his face. He hardly even flinches.
Taking an interest in the room, he sees it only has one door. The room itself is curved, like a turret of a tower might be. The walls are a dark blue, and the room is as dark as the ones below it. The floor is tiled. Moving around are the creatures that Jango had encountered outside.
A punch then strikes Jango on the chin. Another lash of the whip hits his right cheek. He blinks.
"That's enough," a voice says, from the direction of the door. Jango snaps his head in that direction to see a red skinned human female. White hair and yellow eyes, wearing what looks like rags, she stands there, looking at him. The creatures back away.
"You must be Komari Vosa," Jango muses. Vosa moves forward, slowly.
"Well. A bounty hunter. Someday, I knew one would find me." Vosa moves closer. "Well," she slowly says. "Don't you want some fun?" She walks to the side of him and places one hand on his left cheek, slowly moving it across to his hair.
Jango turns away. "I don't want to know your idea of fun."
Vosa moves to his other side and puts a finger on his lips, her head close by his. "Well, you won't know until you find out." She then headbutts him, finger moved away from his lips when she did.
Jango stands his ground. "You're a piece of scum, and I'll do the galaxy a favour and remove you by force."
"Try, my dear," Vosa says, slowly moving her hand over his right cheek. "Try." That hand then draws back quickly and slaps him. She then pulls one leg over him and lies over him. "I'm very fun when you get to know me."
She starts to move closer to him.
Three blaster bolts sound in quick succession. Three of the creatures fall.
Vosa pushes herself off Jango using the Force, flipping over the dead and drawing her lightsabers into guard position.
Jango looks at the door again, to see a familiar face. Wearing grey-blue plates of armour and a face of olive green wrinkly skin with bulging white eyes, the bounty hunter takes a step forward and draws her pistols. This bounty hunter was a Clawdite, and another friend of Jango's.
Jango murmurs "Wesell," at the same time Vosa speaks up "So who do we have here?"
Part 4 [25/4/12]
"Zam Wesell, associate of Jango's," Wesell introduces. "And I suggest you get him out and leave him alone."
"Who's going to make me," Vosa says lightly.
"I am." However, Wesell's right hand starts to shake. She holsters the left pistol and steadies her right hand with her left.
"So you are going to try to shoot me?" Vosa deactivates her lightsabers and clips them to her belt. "Try it," she breathes.
Vosa waits. Jango waits. Still Wesell does nothing. "Pah," Vosa scoffs, and builds the Force around her then pushes outward, directed toward Wesell who is thrown backward into part of the wall.
Three bolts shave past Vosa but each misses. Vosa then jumps high using the Force to call one blade to her hand and activating it. As she reaches the highest point and starts falling, driving the blade forward, she stops dead and falls to the floor. The blade deactivates and the hilt rolls from her hand.
Jango stands over Vosa, pistol aimed at her. "Concede," he simply says.
Vosa rolls over, her face contorted with rage. "No!" she screams, and aims a misjudged Force Push at him, with simply twists him to the side. She jumps up and calls her lightsaber to her hand, escaping through the door.
As Jango grabs his jetpack that was left by the table he was chained to, he looks back at Wesell, now fainted, and considers the aim of the shots. The precision.
That is one to look out for, Jango thinks. He then heads out of the door with his jetpack securely in place.
Vosa had got a bit of a lead on him, but using his jets, he soon caught her up. The chase wound through corridors and other rooms until Vosa came to a halt inside one room and threw her lightsaber at him.
Jango, jets still active, leans back so his head isn't in the firing range. His momentum means he was able to kick the hilt higher in the air. Vosa calls it back to her hand, and Jango wonders why she doesn't run again. He then realised they were in a side tower, so it would have been pointless to go through the only remaining door.
"Nowhere left to go," Jango says. "Concede," he offers again.
"Never," Vosa scoffs. "The only one who leaves is the survivor."
"Fair enough. But prepare to lose."
"My men already caught you once. I'm sure I can kill you."
"They were large in numbers. You're just one person. And they also had the elements of surprise and power on their side."
"And I don't?"
"There's no element of surprise here, and what power you did have disappeared when came here."
Vosa, lost for words, then charges him. Jango activates his jets and flies left, then fires two bolts into her legs. They scrape her legs and powder the floor with small black holes. Jango fires two more, but Vosa dodges and catches them with one of her blades, deflecting the bolts back at Jango. The armour takes the bolts, but it doesn't penetrate the plates. There was a lot to be said for beskar'gam, in the Mandalorian tongue - the 'iron skin'. The armour was strong enough to resist all lasers, including the ionised blade of a lightsaber.
Vosa kept up the deflecting of any bolts Jango fired, until he charges her with his jets active. He also kept up a constant stream of lasers all fired at different directions to confuse the Dark Jedi. A few meters from her, and while she was deflecting the last of the lasers fired, Jango leans back on the jetpack and swings his legs forward. One catches her hand with the one lightsaber held in it. The other continues to catch her in the neck and her head snaps up.
Then pauses. Her whole body does.
She starts clutching at her neck and a faint gasping sounds. I didn't kick her that hard.
Vosa then opens her eyes, as though in shock and that someone had betrayed her. "He is here," she speaks.
Jango has no idea what she is on about, until he looks to the door and sees Count Dooku, hand held out, standing in the doorway.
Part 5 [29/4/12]
"What are you doing here?" Jango asks. "The contract you gave me, as I'm sure you gave Montross, was to find Vosa and kill her."
"Well, my old padawan went to the dark side. I knew I needed someone for the hunt, but at the opportune moment, a reason to turn it into a contest came up. So I contacted the best bounty hunters I could to find her. I followed her here using the Force to locate her an hid my Force powers from her."
"Well," Vosa speaks up. "You have me now."
Dooku checks himself, then looks past Jango at Vosa, still hanging from Dooku's Force grip.
"What is the prize for this contest?" Vosa asks, quietly as she loses air.
"I'm sorry, but I cannot tell you that. My second master knew about you too, and said that too much dark just starts war." Dooku then closes his hand into a fist, and Vosa hangs limp until he releases his grip on her. He then calls her lightsaber to his hand. Then he turns to Jango.
"So, Fett, will you accept this contract?"
"Not until I know more," Jango says.
"OK. Well, a generous contract, with more money than any bounty can give you. A planet called Kamino deals with clones. All you need to do, at first, is donate your genes to allow the Kaminoans to recreate those and start making the clones."
"And what exactly will these clones be used for?"
"I think it would be better if we moved this conversation elsewhere. Shall we walk?"
"My helmet was knocked off my head during the fighting. I'd like to recover it."
"We have time. Go ahead. Meet me by the entrance and then we can go."
Jango traces his steps to the room where he was held. Wesell is still there. Jango wonders whether to take her with him, but then Dooku would most likely ask questions. He then realises that he wouldn't be able to trace the direction as he remembered he was unconscious when he was brought here. Not something to tell Dooku.
Working his way back to the entrance was something of a challenge, but then he sees a shadow of his helmet. The helmet had rolled into one of the struts imbedded into the wall. Picking it up, Jango places it on his head, and again lives in a world of his HUD. Finding the entrance is relatively easy after that, and as promised, Dooku is waiting just outside, looking out at the sparse wasteland.
"Such a barren world to hide in," Dooku says to himself. He then turns to Jango. "Ah, good. Now then, I take it you have your own transport?"
The two then head to the rocky alcove in which the Firespray-class ship was, covering rocky surface after rocky surface. When they reach it, Jango using his jetpack and Dooku using the Force to cover the mountainous parts, Jango invites Dooku to the co-pilot seat, and fires Slave 1 up, closing the hatch shut.
As the ship blasts away from the barren moon, and into space, Dooku says just one thing. "The name is Tyrannus from now on. You will forget that you knew my real identity."
"Yes, Tyrannus," Jango replies, and the ship blasts off into hyperspace.
Part 6 [2/5/12]
Kamino. The worst planet to even stay. Unless your an aquatic species of course, but even they would have a rough time in the rough seas. And the storms, of course. However, a species did live there. The Kaminoans live in the stilt cities that they created when the world flooded. They then did what they did best and recreated their species, culling to make sure that superior genes enabled them to survive. The stilt cities were all white, except to a Kaminoans' ultraviolet sight capabilities. Their eyes were almond shaped, and they had long skinny grey necks. The rest of them was also tall and skinny and grey. The Kaminoans' abilities at cloning was unparallelled by any other company, not even Arkanian Microtechnologies. Their process was slow, but it produced the best results. This is why Jedi Master Sifo Dyas made a deal with the Kaminoans in the first place.
Slave 1 reverts back to realspace, the journey having lasted a long time. It blasts down into the atmosphere of the storm ridden planet of Kamino, seen as a dark blue from space. Tyrannus directs him to one of the stilt cities and Jango lands his ship on a flat surface that seemed designed for landing craft.
Jango and Tyrannus exit the ship and walk across the sidewalk. Jango notices that the roofs curve. Everything is curved. And there were so many windows. The clinical whiteness shows through the glass doors, which slide open when the two men are a meter from them.
Jango looks at Tyrannus, but he is dry. Probably a Force Shield, Jango thinks. His own armour could protect him against the rain.
A tall Kaminoan then approaches. "Ah, Master Tyrannus," it says is a soft voice, almost crystalline. "I suppose this is the gene donor you spoke of?"
"Yes. His abilities will make him perfect for creating the army that is planned," Tyrannus says.
"Army?" Jango speaks.
"An army for the Jedi," the Kaminoan says. "Allow me an introduction. I am Ko Sai. Chief Scientist for the creation of the Grand Army of the Republic."
"Army, huh," Jango poses. "And I suppose I get to train them as well, right?"
"You will get to choose the hired help. We need skilled warriors to train this army," Tyrannus says. "Anyone you want in particular can be called for by you. We need as many as you can get so even if you have to bribe them to come, make sure they do. One hundred will do."
"I can do that."
"Let me show you to where you will be staying," Ko Sai instructs.
"Wait. Wait," Jango interrupts. "What do I get for this."
"Considerable amount of credits, in cash if you want," Tyrannus says.
"I'll want something extra. If you're taking my genes and cloning me, I want clone for myself. No alterations or anything. Just a straight cloning."
"Of course," Ko Sai says. "That can be arranged."
The three then walk away, to Jango's new home for the entirety of the clone production.
And so the Grand Army of the Republic, and the Jedi, is born. Troops armour is designed based on the Mandalorian armour of Jango's, with three separate productions for three different sets of troops. The regular infantry with the more basic armour. The Commandos with the Katarn armour, manufactured by the Kaminoans. The Advanced Recon Commandos had a more lighter armour than the regular infantry, but was weaker than the Katarn armour. As such though, attachments could be added to it and extra pouches for grenade supplies. A kama and pauldron were also designed for this armour type.
And so, this army would soon be ready to meet a threat that only Sifo Dyas knew of.
