It was the morning of college, and the group were sat in the second floor computer room. All the computer monitors were black squares, with the computers thenselves underneath the light brown and cream tables. Arranged in four rows from the door, the first row had ten computers, five each side back to back with each other. The next two rows only had eight, four each side. All these computers were running Windows XP. To the right of these was a long dark brown desk with a lot of clutter and two computers with square black monitors. To the back of the room were two hexagon shaped tables and an octagonal one. Behind these were a lot of computers, white and rectangular. These were the Apple Macs.
Since it was nearly the end of the year, the students were just playing games or finishing work. Occasionally, they would flit their head to the left side from the door to look out of the window. For the past half hour, the sky had been steadily darkening.
"Soon to be lightning," Chris states. "Just hope we don't have to go out in it."
"How do you know it's going to thunder and lightning?" the boy sitting next to him says. This was Ryan, and he had a lot of spots on his peachy face.
Amy, a medium height girl with long brown hair, walks to the window. "I swear I just saw a flash outside."
"Oh probably nothing," Shannon remarks.
"It's definitely raining."
"Guys! I've just had an idea," a dark skinned tall male says. His name is Jaz, and he is a lively lad. "I'll go ask Scott!"
"Come on then Jaz," the female next to him says. Curly ginger hair, this girls name is Kayleigh. "Let's go see him together."
So the both of them walk out of the room.
"Another flash," Amy, who is still at the window, says.
This attracts more people to the windows, who start looking for the lightning. One of the teachers sat at the right hand desk notices the restlessness of the students. "Now come on," she says, "get back to your computers."
Most do, but Amy and Chris remain. Amy then returns a short while later, leaving Chris staring in wonder outside.
Jaz and Kayleigh then return, with Scott in tow. With a small stubble and sideburns of brown hair and a slightly chiseled face, he says to the class "Sorry people, but I can't get anywhere else for us. So that means you've got to go to Block five."
Grumbles follow this, but Chris hardly notices.
"Just to let you know," Scott says, and then disappears through the door.
"Oh well," Jaz says. "It'll be an adventure." he quickly glances at the window, where the rain is now visible as it thunders down on the ground. It is almost pitch black outside.
A great rolling boom of thunder then sounds that no-one can miss. All look up. A blinding flash lights the whole area and the glass on the roof shatters, falling down over people. The light dissipates, and the lights inside the room flicker then die. All the computers monitors then go blank. The computers all die.
One goes further however, and sparks, igniting the unlucky persons trousers. That unlucky person is Ryan, and as he tries to batter the flames, everyone else starts to panic.
"Okay!" the teachers calls. "No need to panic. Just head to Block five. I'm sure you'll be safer there!"
The teacher then runs to Ryan, as the rest gather their belongings and head of of the room. Another flash of lightning, which looks even more awesome out in the sparsely populated lobby of Block seven. Walking down some stairs to the right of the computer room, the group arrives outside Block seven's entrance lobby, which was already full of people watching the storm.
Another boom of thunder.
"Well, I'm going. I'm not waiting here," Jaz says, and then turns to Liam. Liam nods, and then the two run out into the storm.
Other people then start charging into the entrance lobby, making it even more crowded. The others of the group, of which Jaz and the others only partly communicated with, walk out of the entrance as though there isn't a storm on. As they turn left, walking around the first floor computer room, a scream is heard at another flash of lighting.
This lightning seems different though, as if it was concentrated to a certain area. Shannon, Amy and the other girls quickly run to the opposite door, which is the entrance to Block four, leaving Chris on his own.
After the next flash of lightning dissipates, Chris runs out of the entrance lobby, turning left and charging around the first floor computer room, then turns right, following the small alley between Block four and Block five. On his way he saw a crowd of four around a charred mess that could only have been another person.
As Chris reaches the exit of the small alley, he goes to turn left into the entrance lobby of Block five.
Another roll of thunder. Chris, not slowing, starts to make the turn, but then catches one foot over the other and falls into a large puddle just as Amy, Shannon and the other girls of the group exit from another door into Block four. They gasp as they see Chris go down.
Shannon runs out as Chris tries to get up and fails, but a voice from the entrance to Block five stops her.
Shannon does as commanded and quickly steps back, and not a moment too soon.
Another flash of lightning, followed by forked lightning, which homes in on the puddle and strikes. Chris is instantly writhing in convulsions as the electric of the lightning spreads into and through his body.
Shannon, who still had a foot in the puddle jumped it out quickly as the electric hit her foot. She then ran into Block five, making sure to avoid the puddle. The others still in Block four take the chance and run across the stretch of plaza and into Block five, also making sure to avoid the puddle.
The rain was now coming down harder than ever, and the multiple puddles of flash flood formed into one massive plaza-filling sea. By now, Chris had stopped his convulsions, and was lying still on the ground. Braving it, Shannon ran out and grabbed an arm. A small shock ran through her hand, but she didn't let go.
Jaz, realising what she was trying to do, runs out as well, and grabs Chris' other arm. Together, they drag him into Block five and look upon him. Another flash of lightning.
"I wonder how he is?" Jess asks, speaking what they all must have been thinking. Looking out, they see that smoke has started rising in the direction of Block one.
Scott then arrives. "We've been told to evacuate. But how we're meant to do that, I don't know. I say we just wait in our classroom for now." He looks down at Chris and voices "We'll see what we can do for him when we get to the classroom."
And so, with Jaz, Shannon, Jess and Liam carrying Chris, the group make their way through a set of double doors and into a corridor, where they walk to the other end. Scott then unlocks a room on the left side and they all pile in.
As they start to get settled, they notice something outside.
The rain has stopped. It is starting to get lighter outside, and no more lightning or thunder strikes.
But still no electric works. No lights. No computers.
Sparks then erupt from every wall as the electric supply goes into overload.
Crazy Shorts are simple stories that only take a short amount of time to write. Maybe just one part, or one episode of up to six parts. If a crazy short is started, it won't conflict with other stories on here. In other words, the two regular parts uploaded of the main stories, plus a part of this. Bear in mind though, that the upload of these will be random and not follow a timetable of additions like the main stories do.
